Hey all 1st time truck owner here.

Lariat Powerboost, just went over 5k miles yesterday. Had it since late April.

Ran errands yesterday and parked the truck. Needed to use it again late last night. Powered truck on, pulled out of the garage to close it. Once I stopped there were about 6 different warnings that lit up the dash. Pre-Collision assist errors, Advanced trac service needed and a few others. They all scrolled by pretty quick.

Once the truck was in park, it would not come out. Turned it on and off a few times. Fordpass wasn't pulling all the error codes at the time either. I let it sit for a couple of hours and it started right back up. No errors on the dash but the check engine light was still on. Finally Fordpass pulled in all the error messages. I was able to get it backed into the garage thankfully and haven't touched it since.

Here is the laundry list from Fordpass, in order from top to bottom!
  • The Powertrain Controll Module has detected that the module's internal central processing unit (CPU) has encountered an error when running it's self checks.
  • The software in the powertrain control module is corrupted.
  • The Engine system has detected a fault.
  • The powertrain control module has dtected an internal engine off timer concern.
  • The hybrid powertrain control module has disabled the gasoline engine function due to an additiona concern detected. This alert may occur with aditional alerts. Refer to any other alerts for additional information.

Seems like there could be a tiny misfire based on feel when sitting in it. Not quite sure if its safe to drive which will be a problem next week. Earliest so far I can get the truck is on the 9th which is unfortunate.

I'll see if I can use my ODB2 scanner and pull some code(s), haven't had to use it in a long time!

I'll update this thread as I know or learn more. Last week I had just received the OTA for 1.7.1. It did fail to install the 1st time. Not sure if it's related, but just mentioning it.

Will update this thread as I know more or can actually get it scheduled to look at...

Thanks!

Forgot to post this Friday night.

Called another dealer and was able to get in at a 1pm appointment on Friday.

Check engine light was on, but not blinking so they said it was safe to drive. Dealership was only 12 miles away through the country so a nice easy drive.

By the time I got the truck dropped off, the check engine light was gone. Not sure if the turning it on and off a few time with no issues cleared it?

They pulled the stored codes. They said there were a "few known codes" that will be resolved via an OTA. I'm making an assumption this is a 2.1 OTA? I'm currently on 1.7.1 OTA.

Since there was nothing wrong when I took it in, they cleared it all out and said bring it back if it causes further trouble.

Nothing to do at the moment nor does it give me a warm fuzzy. Will update this thread if anything else pops up.

The downloads the dealer gets are different than the Sync Ota's. I had multiple warnings popping up when my truck wouldn't start. My first "fixes" were downloads that in my case didn't fix it. They finally replaced the entire electric drive unit 3 weeks ago. It hasn't stranded me since. Still not getting warm fuzzies that the repair really fixed it. Nothing was broken/failed. It would fail to start and then after a few hours it would decide to start up as if there were no problems. I would have a check engine light that would stay on for a while and then go off after about 5 or 10 key cycles.

Interesting... Thanks for sharing this. Something I will keep in mind.

I need to drop off some tables and chairs tonight at a family members house. Started the truck via my phone and when I went to hop in and pull it out of the garage, the check engine light popped back on it was flashing and chiming "Stop Safely Now".

Another instance where now I can't start it and get it out of the garage.

FordPass says "Pro Power onboard unavailable. Reset the system using the SYNC screen.

I haven't even used this yet. I wonder if I leave it alone it will actually start.

I have two appointments I might have to cancel now if I can count on this truck getting me anywhere...

Shortly after writing the above, I left the truck off for 10 minutes.

Went back out, no check engine light but the parking break was on. I never put the parking break on and was puzzled by that. Started the truck back up and took it for a drive. No issues.

The saga continues!

I've noticed an intermittent setting of the parking brake as well when parking the truck. It does it most in my driveway at home, which has little to no slope.

I also noticed that if I open my door before I put it in park, it will set the parking brake. I assume it's a safety feature.

I was sort of wondering about this myself. I will somehow chalk this up to user error/nanny system.

Went for a drive this morning, no issues.

Shoebox….may or may not be reliant but I had a couple weird warnings that all went away when I pressed down on all the fuses in the fuse box. I was very surprised as to the amount of fuses that were not fully seated.
