What does your coolant temp gauge say when this happens? You just have the check engine for the heat exchanger valve?
Yes, I got the P237F Exhaust Heat Exchanger Bypass Valve Control Performance Error / P2C22 Exhaust Heat Exchanger Bypass Valve Position Sensor Circuit Error & /P2C23 Exhaust Exchanger Bypass Valve Position Performance error.

This was back on March 9th. I have been waiting since then for "the" part. No updates from the customer advocates since I called about a month ago. Ghosted by the 1st advocate doesn't return emails or phone calls. Hung up on subsequent calls to other advocates after being put on hold for a minute while they said they were checking with the dealership. ETC. And I was nice and did not call out the PP service I have received. Very disappointed...

With the weather warming up I will probably need to just park the truck. Have made 2 payments on a truck that is barely usable.

They certainly appear to be codes that are associated

Here is photo of the new part they installed on mine. Same part # as Iceman's. I wonder if I got old version. It's not leaking though.

That is exactly the same product number I have on my existing pipe. I have my doubts Ford has redesigned this part at all. They just changed the P/N in their system and shipping out the same units.
I, personally, am done with this sh*t. The heat exchanger is going bye-bye. Already talked to a muffler shop. They will cut it out and weld a straight pipe there. Guess what, they ask $60 for it!
I will bypass the coolant lines, only thing I still need to figure out is the PCM, that will complain about missing heat exchanger valve. I am working on disabling it via a PCM tune. Once that is done, no more heat exchanger for me, that means no more leak, and yes, screw Ford's warranty.
Here’s another view of my heat exchanger assembly after top lid removed. Notice all the fluid especially around the inlet pipe hole

Initially i suspected the leak around the valve assembly, but as you can see, its completely dry there. So is the pan.

I have also removed and inspected the plastic part that connects to the tray, no cracks or any other anomalies found. The tray sealing gasket looks good as well

Ice, do you think it’s possible in a “bush fix” that you could disassemble the exchange as you done in this post and remove all the plastic and then do the coolant bypass connection and reinstall the pipe as shown in lower picture of course with valve closed. Would that work? No plastic to melt and still a CEL of course but truck would be driveable. ?

Thanks- I had the truck in and had pointed out this information to my service advisor. He said that these had been checked. Maybe I need to revisit

I'm very curious what your engine coolant temp is when the truck goes into limp mode like that.
The dash gauge is no help, of course, but you could either enable digital temps using Forscan or monitor the actual temp from the ODB port.

From what I can tell, Ford initiates the first stage limp mode earlier on this 3rd generation 3.5 Ecoboost than the previous two generations. But the limp mode is less severe, as well.
The gauge is always straight up between cold and hot. It would be very useful if there was an actual temperature gauge that gave the temperature in degrees.
I looked for a way to change the useless temp gauge but did not find one

What trim level is your truck?
Lariat up can have ECT and trans temps displayed.

Note that the needle doesn't move although the actual temps swing considerably.

And @iceman77 could the valve part be zip tied under the truck and possibly remove the DTC or CEL?

I have the Lariat. I couldn't find the setting that turns on the actual temp. I even asked the service advisor but he didn't know. I will research this

It’s not a Ford-provided option. It requires a FORScan change. You can find the necessary changes here.
