Not one update released thus far requires wi-fi for updates, but several members have reported getting OTA's while connected to wi-fi.

I didn't mean to imply that being connected to Wi-Fi would inhibit receiving an OTA update.

But from reports of some who have bandwidth logging, the OTA update(s) did not use the Wi-Fi as the gateway for the update.

Which also implies that even when the truck is connected to Wi-Fi, that WAN connection is not exclusive for routing purposes.
