I don't think 4.2.1 is a problem.
4.2.2 is next, and it is messing with music streaming
With me, 4.2.2 caused AA to not connect and had to play around with the settings to get it to work. AA wanted to use bluetooth and I use the USB port. I don't have streaming.

Just got 4.2.1 today. We were visiting relatives in Pa and on the way there noticed the bell icon, it said update will be installed tonight, but it installed sometime today because I noticed the icon changed and when I clicked on it it said update successful.

I'm having issues with music playback with just 4.2.1. I was actually going to revert back to previous version and disable my TCU, but apparently my truck snitched to the mothership that I'm on 4.2.1 already so Jesse couldn't make the files needed to go backwards.

Did you ever believe that we would be miffed that OTA updates would be rolling out too quickly and our trucks synching with the mothership before we could intervene, as well?

Ford sucks.

What did you have to do to get AA to reconnect? Have you been able to resolve the streaming issue? My trucks downloading 4.2.2 right now and I don't think there is anyway to stop it from installing.

I don't know if it would be any help to you and Jesse. But I have my as built pre and post 4.2.1 in the compare there were only 3 or 4 changes. I'll gladly send if you'd like.

You know I didn't. I was hoping I didn't get this update. Lol

Nah, they don't suck. They just suck at tech. I applaud them for trying to develop their own stuff instead of outsourcing, but they do need to do better. Especially with their bread-and- butter vehicle.

I don't think that matters. I have it for my truck, too. I know better than to ask why not, because the explanation goes way beyond my scope of knowledge. If he says it's too late, then it's too late. ? Truth is, once I get the time to install naviks hdmi interface into the truck, I won't need sync anymore. My truck's screen will be my phone and nothing but my phone hardwired into the truck and Sync, Bluetooth, Android Auto and 4.whatever can collectively kiss my ass.

The more I drive the truck with 4.2.1, the more I wish I had unplugged my TCU before I got it.

There are a couple more updates after 4.2.1

4.2.2 is an APIM
4.2.3 a Gateway Strategy only
4.2.4 is TCU

It may be possible the issues will be resolved after the full update suite is iinstalled.

All three work together for CarPlay/Android Auto

The TCU is apart of the link so its possible. Maybe someone that has the full suite installed can let us know if they notice issues after

That I know of, only two people have reported getting 4.2.4.

Either way, it is my understanding the updates are available in FDRS to go all the way up to 4.2.4. If that's the case, I'm giving these douche-nozzles at Ford another $50 to update my truck all the way through to see if it helps. Everybody has their pet-peeves of things that bother them, and this issue with the music and AA disconnecting after a phone call or just not allowing audio pass-through after a phone call unless I cycle the ignition off and back on is something I cannot deal with.

I made all of these updates in FDRS yesterday. I've only driven the truck just a little bit yesterday afternoon but will be driving more today. I'll report back if I have any audio streaming or drivability issues. I'll be using CarPlay/iOS for what it's worth.

I had to delete the phone from the truck and reinstall. It then would connect using bluetooth. I went into the phone settings and selected USB for the connection. I don't have any streaming, but I use AA for maps. My music is 54 gb, 13,900 files on a USB stick.

I manually updated from the pre-Alexa OTA to the 4.2.4 equivalent this week.

No issues with CarPlay or streaming so far.

OK, I just got back from a drive. Prior to doing yesterday's updates, I had only gotten OTA updates and had been stuck at 3.5.2. After yesterday's FDRS session, I am at the equivalent of 4.2.4. I also made multiple updates that to my knowledge haven't been included in any OTA updates so far.

I had zero issues with streaming Apple Music through CarPlay. My iPhone now charges correctly on the wireless charging pad after the update for that module I did yesterday. The shifting smoothness is noticeably improved both leaving from a stop and slowing to a stop. I tried out Blue Cruise, and it worked just fine.

I got 3.5.4 last night. 27 April with a full tank. '21 job 1 trucks are finally getting the OTA's better late than never. I'm anticipating the 4.2.... rollout now that my APIM is unstuck and things are going smoothly. These computers on wheels are amazingly complex. Makes me covet my Dad's '76 F-250 with the 460 V-8!
