power tailgate problems/issues?

my power tailgate intermittently does not respond the first time i double press on the key fob. sometimes it won't do sh*t at all no matter how many times i press the tailgate button on the key fob. Anybody experiencing like issues/problems said?? TIA

Some of us have noticed it is when the truck sits too long (may it goes into some kind of deep sleep). If my truck sits for 20 minutes the key fob will no longer open the tailgate at all. I have to press the button on the tailgate. I have found if I remote start it, it will then work. Hassle but it works.

I also had this issue. I seem to not experience it by hitting door unlock first then tailgate. It opens everytime.

Completely agree with you. It's very frustrating.

THey have released a BCM update. If you havent installe dit it is ok to install now and could possibly fix it. I havent had issues opening mine. THe BCM update was released primarily for the power release only tailgates to address unintended release. It may also help fix the opening of the power release power close.
@Fordphanatic you currently have the BCM, WACM, and ABS update. Since you have the issue it would be interesting to hear if the BCM corrects it for you.

Not to be confused with the similar experience you can have with tailgate latches that need adjustment if they are too tight. There's a couple of fellas that have reported that after making the adjustment on one or both sides (latches) they enjoyed a much more predictable and consistent tailgate.

I did the BCM update yesterday and noticed I needed to double press the tailgate release inside the truck and it shows up on my dash that it is open, which is new to my truck.

You can revert to one press. There is a option to configure it for double or single press.

You can also manually adjsut it with forscan.

I read everything I can find regarding and I'm amazed at how much less I have uncovered than I think sometimes. Lol

Edit: I just went and looked at that update. It stated it was to install the double push on the tailgate release. It may change if I was connected to the truck, which I am not.
