Morning, this morning while starting my 22 Lariat, the speakers made a loud pop and then just played static noises even with the volume dialed to zero. I turned off the car and the static was still there. My radio was set to Sirius XM from last night.

I was able to go to sources and change it to FM and the static magically disappeared and the radio played like normal.
I jumped on this forum and found out that it’s a problem for some…so not alone…it just happened…does anyone know how to prevent it from happening again? Is there a fix as many threads say that the dealer can’t help.

thanks!

There have been multiple software updates to the DSP module recently. Which sound system do you have installed in your truck? Also, if you post your VIN I can look it up and see if there are any updates available.

I have a ‘22 Raptor. I was having trouble with what I thought was the blue tooth disconnecting and dropping calls about 3 weeks ago. There would be static, and then the call would disconnect. But it would also happen when plugged in to usb. Also it would disconnect my blue tooth music. I took it in and I guess they updated the software. And it had been fine until last week.

Last Thursday I started my truck after lunch and similar to what some others are reporting I/we heard extremely loud pop followed by extremely loud static. I thought the speakers were blown. I tried turning off the truck but the static continued. After about 3 minutes of turning the truck on and off, the static stopped and it has been working fine. I made a video of the static sound playing with the vehicle turned off and doors open. My radio was set to Apple car play via bluetooth So no usb connection.

I took the truck to the dealer and the rep thought I had a short. A wire grounding someplace. I don’t think so…. thoughts?

There is a fix for this now. The dealer needs to apply an update. Reference the following SSM to your service advisor:

  • SSM 51663 - Effective May 26 2023
2021-2023 F-150/Expedition - Pop Noise And/Or Static In Speakers At Start Up
