Poltergeists Anyone?

Just hit 1000 miles on my 2022 King Ranch Hybrid. I've been having a variety of infrequent moments in which the poltergeists like to mess with me so I thought I would share and see if anyone else is having as much fun with them as I am. Visited the service department yesterday as they felt there was an off chance it was battery related. Battery passed all tests so that seems to be ruled out. They did run all of the over-the-air updates so we'll see if that helped at all. Here's the list (so far):

• The memory/power steering wheel failed to move to the upper position for exiting the vehicle (twice).
• The memory/power steering wheel failed to move to the driving position (once)
• Turn signal sound disappeared (worked the next day).
• Zone lighting did not go on (once)
• The Dome light did not go on (once)
• FordPass alert stating that "Remote features have been disabled due to possible low battery issues" (or words to that effect).
• During the first week of ownership, the truck would not recognize the keyless fob as being in the vehicle. Once when actually driving, two other times when I went to start the truck. All three times just taking the fob out of my pockets seemed to do the trick.

Other than these minor hauntings, I'm loving my King Ranch!

Those sound more like gremlins than a poltergeist.

A poltergeist is a specifically malevolent entity that would be harassing you in a much more overt manner.

Gremlins really just do their own random shit and it’s nothing personal.

When I first got my XLT it was literally just off the truck and the battery warning symbol was on. There were so many error messages that I can’t even remember them all.

Every once in a while when I haven’t driven it in a while; weird electronic stuff might happen. Though I can’t rightly blame it on the voltage fully because of other variables.

A few things that I have noticed is at some point, the overhead view of the 360° cameras changed from a blue crew cab to a silver regular cab like my truck and after that, the aspect ratio and seemingly focal length of the reverse camera changed to a more wide angle view.

Also, sometimes I need to double click OK on the steering wheel when it asks questions or alerts me to stuff; sometimes it takes just one.

gremlins here. sometimes the seat wont move up, happens often

but we did have TAPS at out place once, cant confirm or deny we have freaking ghosts

but i can say WE DO

I guess there is something to be said for us lowly regular cab guys that couldn't get all the extrees.

Knock on a boxer dog head, I haven't had a single thing wrong with mine. The things I thought were wrong turns out I just didn't know what I was doing.

The only oddities I have noticed so far are that my driver’s side rear door is really touchy about door ajar messages (there’s so much weather stripping this is purely a human issue, you have to close it hard) and that whether or not my mirrors fold when I park seems totally random. Sometimes they fold, sometimes they don’t, and sometimes I swear they’ve been unfolding themselves in the middle of the night.

Gremlins are fun, let me tell you...

My Sync4 system decided to reboot itself today right as the truck hit 500 miles... No rhyme or reason just a loud pop from the sound system and the screen went dark. took it about a minute before it sorted itself out and came back online. Checked and no update applied that can tell, so who knows what it was doing...

I have 2 main ones:
Passenger pillar post speaker clicks- must be s short because when you hit it, it stops.

Second one, the running boards get almost all the way out when you open the door, but then pull back in. Happens about every 4 or 5th time you open door.

My 20 Ranger Lariat would do this same thing. Ended up pulling the speaker pod off the door and reseating the plug a couple times and that fixed it.

New gremlins or poltergeist to report!

• Just moments ago…..running lights came on and the vehicle is parked/off. I was at least 15 yards away, no one else close by, sitting at a camping site enjoying the evening. Only way to resolve was to turn headlight from auto to off, twice. Lights went off after second attempt and now set back to auto.
• Yesterday discovered that the feature which reads speed signs, which in turn controls the adaptive cruise, does not like signs that read “No passing ahead” anymore . It drops the pasted speed to 25mph even though there’s not a speed limit sign in sight (posted speed n the road is 40mph). As there were several passing signs on the stretch of road, and 40mph signs, I had 3 or 4 cases of sudden slowing down from the false reads. There’s even one spot without any signs at all that repeatedly drops the speed to 25. This is a NEW glitch, no issues with this until yesterday.

Both of your posts (opening post and the most recent) describe my 2022 KingRanch over the past 7 days.

It could be a coincidence, of course, and the causes are not the same. But here's what I suspect.......
Regardless of the stress test that the dealership performed on your battery, it's very possible that your battery is dropping below ~12.3 volts at night while it sits. Regardless of whether it is new or if it will pass a stress test, these trucks can very well exhibit what is being called "gremlins".

To rule this possibility out would be easy enough if you have a meter available to check the battery in the morning before you start the truck. Just pop the hood and verify the underhood AGM is 12.3 or higher.

As for the sudden unexplainable truck lighting up completely on its own, mine did exactly that and I too happened to have been outside and witnessed it. Only my headlights lit up too. It looked exactly the same as it would had someone gotten in it and turned on accessory power. After about 5 minutes of waiting to see what would happen I intervened by going in and getting the fob and entering the truck. I was only able to shut everything down by starting it and then shutting it back off.

I'm convinced that the truck was triggered by some "session" between the truck and Ford's OTA cloud. I will never be able to prove that because there's no footprint left to go on.

Anyways, I predict if your fresh new 2022 Powerboost doesn't have any parasitic draw that takes the 12V below 12.3V, it will quit behaving like it has gremlins. At least that's my opinion.

These trucks DO have parasitic draw on the 12V system. It's the nature of how they are designed. But it is supposed to drop below something like 0.5A after 75 minutes of non-use. Which a very healthy battery can handle for a lengthy amount of time. But if the battery is already less than very healthy, or if the truck has some module that doesn't sleep properly, well........ you get the idea.

These Gen14 F150 Hybrids on this forum have already had an amazing number of batteries replaced. There's lots of theories why, and I have my own opinions. But how sensitive these trucks are to a less than very healthy battery isn't a theory.

This is why I went in with Forscan and upped the battery charge limit to 90% over the stock 80% in the BCM module.

I saw your post regarding, on another thread. Sounds like a great idea on a Powerboost especially. I'll be researching the proper Forscan edit for the adjustment.
