Are all 4 inch lifts created equal with the exception being the shocks ?
Is there one that rides firmer/nicer ? I'm looking into a 4 inch lift but there are a few options and so hoping someone can give some advice.

thanks

There are enormous difference in both spring/shock quality, as well as component quality, longevity, etc etc.

A 4” kit from King is almost 5 grand, and comes with upper control arms, adjustable dampers with remote shock resi’s so the fluid doesn’t overheat, steering knuckles, and will ride great, softer than stock.

a 4” kit from rough country is around 1300, doesn’t have control arms, no remote resi’s, just a leaf block in the back, stereotypically are very firm.

I’d suggest finding the top 4 or so kits for the look you are after, and do further research from there.

Thanks for the info , I appreciate it . Would you say steering knuckle is needed?

I would seriously consider the ReadyLift 3.5" SST lift. It is truly about as high as you can go without cutting the frame and comes with UCAs. It has been in the market for awhile and is somewhat proven.

The other no cutting option that is worthy of consideration is the ICON 3.5"-4.5" lift kit that comes with UCAs and updated knuckle to help with geometry. It is pricey.

Not all 4" kits are the same. They have certainly changed some over the years! As some have mentioned; there can be a large difference both in quality of materials, to quality/comfort of the system being installed (such as what shocks, pieces, etc), as well as the price range.

Example; a 4" kit from RC is inexpensive. But they typically do not ride nearly as well as other kits (of course this is an opinion. Some enjoy the ride and quality of RC products. We personally do not). They also can involve having to cut and add in different pieces to make it all sync up correctly.

But then you get a brand such as Icon who has a 4" lift out there thats all bolt on. No cutting or anything. And will have a better ride quality (again, an opinion).

So it really comes down to a few thing:
1) What do you want to achieve from the set up? Is ride quality most important? Is it an aesthetics? Etc
2) Budget. Are you trying to stay below a certain cost, or are you more focussed on quality without breaking the bank
3) Install. You can do any install yourself, but if you are having a shop install it they will charge more for a kit that requires cutting due to needing more labor. Where as a bolt up kit will take less time.

Hopefully this somewhat helps you out! But if you have more questions feel free to reach out to us anytime. We offer a variety of set ups that can meet your goals/needs and are always happy to help members out!
