I wanted to ask a random question to others as my truck has a slot for a phone holder/cubby in the center console forward of the shift lever and cup holders. I currently use the slim slot between the shifter and cup holders to place my phone, but it doesn’t hold it perfectly in place. When I test drove a 2021 back in the day, it had a little black plastic piece that would hold your phone upright albeit at a slight angle up. My 2023 has a little notch for it, but the truck didn’t come with the plastic holder itself. Has anyone noticed/cared/had one given to them?! I’ve attached references from the ford parts website based on MY truck, but will try again using my vin.

I don't believe all models came with one of those pieces. My 21 XLT did not. I too use the slot that you referred to in your post. It seems to work fine for me. My iPhone has a slim rubberized case and it doesn't move when in place.
You could probably buy one of those holders in the diagram. Good luck!

I used to just drop my iPhone into the slot next to the shifter, then I got one of Chris's (@Hawsa) magsafe mounts that fits in the recess for the shifter. (I don't have the work surface option, so I never put the gearshift down.) Yeah, it's a little expensive, but it works GREAT! No visible wires if you run the cable like he shows in his video.

Here's a pic of mine... there are others around in other threads...

I prefer the slit slot myself for my phone (rubberized case w/ flap cover). When it's charge time I use the USB C to C plug w/ a cable conveniently routed. Wireless charging isn't a good use case for AA/Carplay as the phone is using both CPU/GPU, modems, charging, and induction heat -- aka, the phone gets cookin while charging is meh.

The slot holding it sideways is a very natural position to pick it up as well. Ultimately it's whatever works best for you. In the mach-E, the wireless charger position is poor and under certain circumstances interferes w/ GPS reception.

Yea, that slim shifter spot is a natural for me. And I RARELY ever touch the phone. If I feel I need to touch it, I ask myself what feature (Sync4) have I not leveraged yet that would require me to hold my phone in my hand?

It's just a personal challenge. :)

And I'm currently running a tattle tale app on the phone that is reducing my insurance cost IF I can NOT pick the phone up!

So far I have a "perfect" rating after several days. 0 events is what the app describes it.

Both Alexa and the ability to read incoming email on the Sync screen are the money makers. (savers) ?

The thin slot next to the shifter for me too. I wish it was about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch deeper but it works fine none the less.

I only use my cell phone for work email so I often leave it behind anyway. Not a good practice for emergencies but I do it anyway.

You can use Sync4 for your corporate email. You get 1 "favorite" in the lower tabs (shortcut) in Sync4. If you choose "Email" as the favorite, you are 1 touch away from viewing/reading/hearing email without touching the phone.

My 2021 Lariat had the phone holder (045G74B in your above illustration), but it frequently fell out as it wasn't secure. My 2022 Raptor does not have the holder, but then it lays flat on the charger pad, which the 2021 did not have (added to high Lariat 502A/Tremor 402A in 2022).

That’s funny I just switched insurance too and mine will detect if I pick up my phone or take a corner too fast, etc. Thankfully the device/program is always a discount and not a rise in cost.
