I am currently shopping for upper trim levels and am shocked how many don’t have the heated steering wheel or the delete. I’m not buying one without it. I may have to go with another Ram after all… I would pay the $140 delete price if Ford would cover it.

Good luck hope it works out as it's always a nice to get the things it should have had in the first place. However, it seems with a few exceptions this program was limited to the lightning so just make sure you temper expectations.

If your truck doesn't fall under the program and you decide to do it on your own it should be pretty easy. I just did my swap last week and it took me about 90 minutes. My truck was already wired behind the sccm but ymmv there, being a platinum I would suspect it's also wired. It's pretty easy to check if you have the wiring, theres 3 bolts on the bottom of the steering column and two clips behind the wheel itself and the housing pulls away and you can check for the wires. You don't have to remove the wheel to pop the clips loose, just turn the wheel to either side.

My service guy at Ford checked into it this morning and said it cannot be done. He said it's just not possible, if it has not been set up from factory. His parts guy supposedly looked over a document that Ford put out. When I ordered the truck, I ordered it without the HSW because it was going to delay the truck for so long. I guess the guys that ordered it with the HSW waited forever, but eventually they now have the chips for them. This is really frustrating. I loved my HSW in my 2018. If any of you out there has a fix for this that my Ford dealer does not know about, I would be interested in hearing. Thanks. -Frustrated in Stevens. :(

It's because the chips weren't available for so long and guys like myself that needed a truck opted to get the truck quickly vs. waiting a blue moon for the truck with the HSW.

Many people on this forum including myself have added it after Ford said no. Worst case scenario you are looking at 3 parts and two wires. In my case, I had the wiring and I suspect you will as well since you have a platinum.

You will need to replace/add the following parts depending on what your truck already has:
  • Steering column control module - This is the part that caused the delete, so you will definitely need it.
  • Wiring to SCCM - You may not need it but if so there is a member on here who sells a premade harness that makes adding it super easy if you don't want to make one yourself.
  • Steering wheel - If you need it, which one will depend on if you have active steering
  • HVAC controls - If you want a physical button, can also be added as a soft button via forsaken
Once thats done you just need to activate/program the modules in forscan. Overall its pretty easy if you're even a little mechanically inclined.

Pricing on parts is all over the place, if you are patient you can find them fairly inexpensively. I kept an eye on ebay and saved about $300 vs just buying the parts outright from an online ford parts dealer and significantly more than that vs MSRP. If your buddy owns the dealership maybe see if he will sell you the parts at cost? Either way you are going to be doing this yourself as Ford service won't touch it if you aren't part of the program.

I also attached a copy of the instructions from the upgrade program that will give you an idea of whats involved in the physical install process. Unless you pony up for a mongoose cable and FDRS you will need to follow the forscan process to do the software side of things.

You can poke through this thread to get an idea of the process as that is generally where the people who have done it gather: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...wheel-retrofit-updated-with-information.6022/

Thanks I really appreciate the help. I am not mechanically inclined, I'm a pole building guy, if it's wood, I can do it. Guess I will have to look to someone to help me get it done. Are you in Pa? lol

I just got notified in FordPass that I'm eligible for the heated wheel update. Alex in one of the Facebook groups worked some magic since my truck falls smack in the date range and was Dearborn built so matched the published specs.

Does your window sticker show a -140 for deletion of the HSW or was it ordered with it, and just never got put on? My dealer indicates since I opted to delete the option, I'm not eligible.

‘23 Ford F150 Tremor 402A
Called the dealer where I bought my 23 F150 Tremor to see if I would qualify and they just said it’s not possible and that I should call Ford Customer Service. I called Ford and they told me to reach out to my dealer. So I’m just getting the runaround.
My truck was built in December 2022 at Dearborn plant and my window sticker has the heated steering wheel delete with $140 credit. According to the bulletin, I meet the qualifications.

@Ford Motor Company - can you tell me why my truck does not qualify for the “
Heated Steering Wheel Performance Upgrade 22G06” ? Here is my VIN # 1FTFW1E58PFA30695. thank you.

But did you end up getting the ridiculous auto start stop feature deleted also? That was your "reward" for not getting the hsw.

Well I don't know how it happened but I'm getting my heated steering wheel on Monday. I reached out to Ford about a month ago and was shot down so then I tried my dealer. They took about a week to get back to me and then called with the great news.

Truck was built in Dearborn in February 2023 and I got the $140 credit so I don't know what to say. I wish Ford was more consistent with this for everyone affected.

I am running into the same issue with my '23 Tremor. It meets all of the criteria.
It was supposed to have the heated steering wheel but it was deleted.

Model - F-150
Model Year - 2023
Assembly Plant - Dearborn/Rouge
Build Date - December 2022

I called the dealer I bought it from (Brondes Maumee in Maumee, Ohio). They said they had never heard of it, that my VIN didn't pop up with any recalls/upgrades, and that I should contact Ford directly.
I called another Brondes dealer in Toledo, Ohio and got the same response.
I called Ford's customer service number and spoke to two different reps, Vanessa and Tessa. Tessa was very nice, but said that she wasn't able to do anything for me. I requested to talk to SSSC (Ford's Special Service Support Center) to have them investigate it, but she said that I was not allowed to talk to them. That only dealerships have the ability to talk to SSSC.
I scheduled for my truck to go in to Brondes Maumee for an airbag light that was coming on intermittently and decided I would take both 22G06 documents from Ford that are available on NHTSA's site and plead my case.
When I arrived at Brondes Maumee this morning, I spoke with Andy in the Service Department. He had a smirk on his face the entire time I was talking to him. I was very polite and asked if he could contact SSSC for me and get the ball rolling to put my VIN on the list. He said that he would open a case with them, but to not get my hopes up. He said "if they say no, it's a no" and wouldn't hear anything else I had to say.
I got a call this afternoon from Andy to tell me that they hadn't gotten to diagnosing my truck, but that he started a case with SSSC and they said "no" twice, and then closed the case. He said that he asked his Service Manager to push further, but that they may not hear anything for at least a week.

There has to be someone in the big Glass House in Dearborn that can help us out.
Ford isn't treating everyone fairly on this issue.

@Ford Motor Company - What's the deal?

Update on my situation:
Brondes Ford Maumee informed me that Ford’s SSSC department said “no” two times when they requested that my VIN be added to the list. They told Brondes that the 22G06 upgrade is only for the Lightnings, but that doesn’t make any sense. The December ‘23 “Supplement #1” to the 22G06 document lists a specific part number for the Tremor trim level steering wheel.
After Brondes was told no via SSSC, the Service Manager wrote an email in an attempt to escalate the issue and asked to have my VIN added to the list.
Here’s to hoping Ford does right by us customers and adds it to the list.

When i called about my 23 Limited thst isn't on the list, i was told when I called that a small number 6k or so were not issued the credit on the sticker for the option delete. Those are the only trucks eligible to be on the list and even though my truck met the criteria for build date and location, it would not be added.
