Hey Gang, I'm laid up in recovery from minor surgery, so have time to check back in with you guys. My '22 Powerboost has the FX4 cardboard skidplate hanging from a ripped out mounting hole like a lot of you. I just reviewed the major skidplate threads I could find (Talon, Tremor, RTR, and catalytic covers). But it seems like guys are ahead of me in their decision-making process, and I haven't seen one summing up the pro's and con's.
Can anyone do me a favor, and sum-up what I should weigh when deciding?
0. It appears that other than the ripped plate in my picture, the other plates seem like they are metal, or at least more solid. Is that right? If I just replaced this one plate, can you confirm that is the "transmission" skid plate: https://talonsgarage.com/products/ford-f-150-powerboost-skid-plate-catalytic-converter-shield
1. Is Talon indeed the crowd favorite? (seems like) ...just looking for an answer that's 80% right on this decision. (this time)
2. Are there one or two other contenders I should check out
3. Should I be worried about temperature with this switch? (PB specific or otherwise)
4. Would you trust the Ford dealer to install it? I asked what they'd do under warranty for the crappy FX4 plate, and they volunteered to install an aftermarket skid plate if I take it in for an oil change. If it's strictly bolt-in, I'm tempted to let them.
PS Thanks @Shane150 for this data: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/talons-garage-new-powerboost-skid-plate.12106/post-397619
And thanks for any answers-- I know I could spend a couple days researching like I usually do...
