I have been very lucky with the OTA updates but I just had my first failure. I only drive short distances and it has been quite cold for my area so I have to believe it is the battery charge.

After the first fail I drove it about 12 miles but I was sure that would not be enough, and it wasn't. Another fail.

I have the Noco Genius 10 coming and I am going to hook up the extension eyelet connectors so I can just plug it in from under the truck and not have to leave the hood open. I may have to get one of those Bluetooth battery SOC devices too. I hope Ford adds a SOC display to the other items that you can cycle through as for the PB this is as important as your tire inflation and other items it monitors.

I plan to connect the eyelets from the charger cable to the positive and the nut on top of the BMS for the negative so that BMS is in between the 2 charge points. Anyone see a problem with this. From everything I have researched in the threads for this, this looks like the "go to" option.

I put the Genius 5 on my truck with the eyelets connected to the plus bolt and the black connected to the bolt on top of the sensor. It works well, but the charging wires are a little to short to make it out from under the hood. I have the unit mounted on the wall and not under the hood because it came with a nice little weatherproof disconnect. Right now I do have to open the hood to connect it. I will be changing that so I don't have to open the hood.

EDIT: having to open the hood to connect might be a good thing as I get a HOOD OPEN message on the IPC. Reminds me to unplug the Genius 5 from the truck....I am old and do forget some things...LOL

HA! That is what made me post this. :)

I think every other person has had OTA failures, but not me. I even thought that with my minimal driving that the SOC would be drained so I would get OTA failures long ago, but I have been lucky. Now I am in the club too. There may not be many, or any, of the non OTA failure people left.

On the plus side my windshield wiper motors have never failed in a rain storm so that is nice thing. :)

I had the exact same thing happen to me. The next morning I changed the tender setup to bypass the bms nonsense and connected directly to the negative terminal of the battery.

Update installed fine at 1am that morning.

All previous OTA installed fine.

I did exactly that. Ruged been snapshotting my battery and I am currently at 44 of 70 for battery capacity, which means my battery might need to be replaced. Im going to trickle again all day today and have him snapshot when Im done.

What is Ruged looking at on the back end? Ford software?

Does 44 of 70 have units? Amp hours?

Yeah he has access to FDRS
Its "Battery Capacity"

Here is what my snapshot looked like this morning after trickling all day, ystrdy:

- "errorCode":"InhibitRequiredHvNotQualifiedLvLow(204)"
- "totalLvBatteryCapacity":"44" (This somehow dropped from 49 after trickle charging)????
- "currentLvBatteryDataQuality":"NotWithinSpec"
- "currentLvBatteryVoltage":"13"
- "currentLvBatterySoc":"85"
- "currentLvBatteryTemperature":"14"
- "dynamicPostUpdateSocThreshold":"41"
- "estimatedTimeToActivate":"450"
- "estimatedTimeIncludingRollback":"900"
- "currentDrainRate":"9"

Well leave it to Javier (@rugedraw), we trickle charged the battery for a third time and I readjusted auto updates to happen 6 minutes after battery charge was full and it worked.
Waiting to hear what my current capacity and SoC were at the time of the update.
I already have an H7 battery and apparently it's going bad also, if\when Ford replaces it, I will request a non-FoMoCo battery and pay the diff. Sounds like all of them are :poop:.....

Update:
So here is my battery results after a "Full trickle charge"
"totalLvBatteryCapacity":"56" (max 80)
"currentLvBatterySoc":"82" (max 100)

Thanks again for your help Javi!
