I have bought several new vehicles over the years but have never ordered one from scratch as I did my recent purchase of a '22 F150 XLT Powerboost with the chrome package. So, I was always able to see the actual vehicle I was purchasing. Since there were no trucks on the lot, I was limited to seeing the pictures on the salesman's computer as we were putting the truck together. I had previously test driven the Powerboost at another dealership and mostly paid attention to the powertrain, performance, and comfort, all of which I loved. The appearance of the vehicle has always taken a back seat to those factors for me. So, as we went thru designing the truck, beyond me knowing what color I wanted (Antimatter Blue), I didn't pay attention to other appearance related options and ordered the standard 17" chrome wheels.
Now that I've received the truck I realize how much these wheels distract from the otherwise beautiful appearance of the truck. They just look so small and frankly cheap in my opinion, and looking at other trucks on the road I mostly see at least decent looking 18" wheels or preferably nicer looking 20" wheels. If I had realized during the ordering process how much the wheels distract from the overall appearance of the truck, I would have happily paid the cost to upgrade at that time.
Other than the wheels, I absolutely love this vehicle. My question is, am I stuck with what I have, and just accept it? Or can I order "after the fact" new wheels without paying an arm and a leg? Additionally, if I order bigger wheels, either "18 or 20", wont that affect my speedometer accuracy? I would assume that could be addressed by a software adjustment?
