Hello, new here and reading all of this info has been great. I’ve ordered my truck in the last few days. My question is, once the order is submitted, how long does it usually for me to get an email or something from Ford? Also do I continue to get emails with status updates? Thanks!

You likely won’t get any emails (I never did anyway, but there’s supposedly some way for your order to be tied to an email address). The first big step will be getting your VIN which will allow you to track it yourself through Ford’s website or the tracker here on the site. There are other trackers as well, but be advised there’s only one source of this information, it’s all coming from the same place, so don’t worry yourself too much over switching between all the different trackers.

Getting the VIN is usually around 2-5 weeks, but some outliers have been waiting much longer.

will the VIN be sent to me or will I need to find it a tracker?

For me, never get any emails. You can call your dealer once a week until you get a VIN. Once you get a VIN and your order number (should be on your printed out copy) you can enter the information in the following link for updates. Then check 5000 times a day and see no status change for a month or 2 or whenever things start rolling.
https://seg.fyi/mache-vin/#/details?vin=&order=

After this point it's just a waiting game. You can also peruse the forum for information and enjoy pics of people that have received their trucks. You'll also have some that haven't received their trucks that have been waiting since April. It just really depends on the trim level and what options you ordered.

Forgot one thing, once you get a VIN you usually get an estimated build date.

thanks for the reply! I’ve noticed some people have been waiting forever. I sell cars and have ordered plenty for other people…… but it’s different from this side lol.

You'll also notice that some thinks it's specific to Ford with the waiting and parts shortages. You just have to do a quick Google to see it's across the board. I expected it when I ordered mine.

I’ve somewhat come to terms with waiting longer than my dealer said but there’s always hope ?

I will say this, prepare for your patience to be tested, very much likely to the point of anger and giving up! LOL. I joke, but it is the truth.

For me, my ordering process happened like this.
06/04 - Order placed through dealer
06/28ish - I called my dealer and got the VIN
07/10ish - I called my dealer and found out that my truck was scheduled to be built the week of 08/02
07/15 - My order started showing up in the trackers, and my dealer let me know a build date of 08/04
07/24 - My window sticker populated
08/04 - My truck was built and completed. Dealer says the truck is produced and not missing parts. Trackers then started showing a delivery date of 09/14
From 08/04 until 09/01 - Zero updates. Truck is still sitting in a yard somewhere and is still not on a train. Pretty much guarantee that to get the truck on a train and delivered to my dealer by 09/14 isn't going to happen.

The Ford Mothership doesn't communicate - AT ALL -. My dealer is complaining that they can't get any info, and Ford customer service I suspect use the same trackers we all are and are essentially useless. That is my biggest gripe in the whole process, the zero communication from Ford directly. I can handle all the delays in the world, but it is the not knowing that is pissing me off and I wish would change. Would make the whole process and delays a lot more bearable.

Hopefully you’ll get some updates soon and your truck sooner rather than later. Unfortunately light to hardly no communication is somewhat the norm industry wide. I’m hoping I don’t get caught in the loop of setbacks that I’ve seen others have here but I’m not holding my breath lol

The whole process if nothing else is inconsistent. I ordered my King Ranch, 6/16 then found out Ford was out of Kodiak Brown. Selected new color and got my vin on 8/13 with a build date of 10/11. BTW I was a priority 2!

The more reading I do, the more I think it may never arrive haha. I ordered a pretty much fully loaded King Ranch…… I might be waiting for awhile lol

i ordered a F-150 Platinum on May 10th. I have not heard a word from Ford. I check with my dealer every week they also have heard nothing. My friend ordered his platinum the first week in January and it was delivered the second week of August. He didn’t get his Vin number until two weeks before delivery. Ford is very poor at communicating with their customer!

Also, here’s a really good thread on scheduling. Typically the system is updated by Friday each week.
