At 12 k and using the echo mode it will give you better mpg but it is mostly in town
It totally depends on how you drive with a lead foot or a light touch
With a little practice I have gotten 22-28 mpg
Once I hit 34 mpg
But and I say but sometimes I feel like Gramma driving.
Not Eco mode, Eco idle.

We're talking about something completely different here.

I generally use eco-idle all the time. I like it in the winter because it raises the revs, which absolutely helps warm the truck up quicker.

When I'm traveling with my trailer, if I'm going to sleep in the trailer while it's connected to the truck I will often turn eco-idle OFF. The engine seems to start and shut down much smoother from the lower RPM than it does from the eco-idle RPM. While this doesn't bother me it does bother my gf who can otherwise sleep through just about anything.

Same for me. When we lost power in Austin for a few days, I’d run Eco Idle during the day. But when we would go to bed, I’d turn it off.

Eco idle 99% of the time. I only turn it off if camping near others to reduce sound output.

So I reckon I need to finish my comments
My echo idle is on and I have noticed it running up the idle on occasions as it should when your running around a lot consuming the battery if your using the electric motor a lot

I wanted to test it out so I ran a full tank with it on, a full tank with it off.

Tank with it off got about 21 MPG, tank with it on got a little over 25. I noticed I got a lot more electrical engine time with it on, so I think there's definitely something to it charging the battery more efficiently.

Has anyone calculated the numbers, (have only seen one posted), with gas consumption? If you are revving an engine higher, to charge a battery to run on battery... wouldnt it just wash out?
Burn more fuel to charge battery, faster\higher or standard lower idle to charge battery slower\lower...?
100yrs ago I ran track. I can sprint the first 200yrds and crawl the remaining 200 or I can quickly jog the full 400yds... seems like I always had the same times across the finish???

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that the reason it’s more economical is due to the efficiency characteristics of gas engines - that is they use fuel more efficiently (extracting more energy into a useable form from fuel) when under a higher load and at higher rpm.

Very well could be and makes sense... I just would like to see the breakdown of idling an engine at 1700rpm vs 2600rpm to juice a battery from 49% or 63% to drive 250ft or 350ft...
I am most definetely not a guru at all this stuff... in school there were 2 subjects I always struggled with... math
