There have been many times I have backed up my Toyota Tundra with the truck lid down. For the 150 though, it screams at you and I am wondering why?? And can it be deactivated?

It's screaming at you because the camera is detecting an object, like your bumper because the tailgate is down. I have not backed up yet with this tailgate down, but in 16 F150 there would be a message on the dash when this alert pops up that you could just click "OK" on and it would stop. You'll have to do each time though.

Try disabling your backup sensors when doing this, mine always beeps when I backup with the tailgate down.

What a head ache! I drove my 24 f150 down east in a snow storm .
Turns out if snow or dirt or ice gets on all those sensors NOTHING WORKS! cruise control nope! Crash protection ? Nope. I spent the 18 hour drive hitting the OK button every couple of minutes when the alarm flashed on the dash saying
"Sensors are obstructed , bla bla bla , please clean sensors" so at 2 am in a snow storm i pull over on the highway and clean those sensors! 20 minutes later same thing. Hit OK again! No cruise control. No crash prevention . Stupid gadgets don't work in bad weather and thats exactly when you need that stuff the most!
