Hi all. I just did dinner updates today via FDRS.

I had an IPC, BCM, PCM and ABS.

I didn't then in this order, PCM, ABS, IPC and BCM.

All installed fine until I got to the BCM. It seemed to be going fine and when it got to the final configuration, it said it failed. I got nervous and powered down the truck like it told me to do. I then tried the configuration a few more times because each timer it didn't succeed, it asked if I want to try again. I finally gave up.

Here's the interesting part. After the final fail, I powered down and shut FDRS. I disconnected my mongoose and started the truck back up like normal. It started and everything seemed ok. I went back and connected my cable and started FDRS. I let it do the module scan as normal. This was key on, engine off.

The weird part, no errors. All modules checked ok and no DTC's. I don't get it. Also, the BCM update is gone. I expected the others to be gone but not the BCM.

Any ideas on this? Maybe it did succeed and the software had an issue? I also drove it afterwards and all is well. No issues. I don't know what was in the updates, but I don't see any visual differences in the panel cluster or anywhere else.

Confused to say the least......

Do you have a 2022? If so, check your headlamps and make sure they’re working.

SSM 52075 2022 F-150 - One Or Both Headlamps Inoperative After A Performing A Body Control Module (BCM) Update With Or Without DTCs B14E5:08 and/or B14E7:08
Some 2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an inoperative headlamp after a body control module (BCM) software update. There may also be BCM diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B14E5:08 and/or B14E7:08 present. This may be due to a software incompatibility between the headlamp light emitting diode (LED) control module and the BCM. If this condition occurs after a BCM software update, confirm the BCM is at the latest software level and replace the headlamp LED module on the affected headlamp. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01.

No, thank you. This is helpful because the BCM update is brand new and it’s unclear how screwed up it is. Last year, the BCM update Ford initially released fried the HCMs of trucks with reflector headlamps. Projectors seemed to be fine. This year it’s messed up again but it’s too new to know the scope. You have projectors (on Lariat 502a and above trims) and seem to have escaped serious problem. But you did have installation irregularities. The SSM also is targeted to 2022s. Hard to know whether that is intentional or Ford just hasn’t seen any affected 2021s yet.

Ok. I went in thinking I had 2 updates. I didn't know about the BCM. Wish I did. I do have projector headlights. 22 PB PLAT

It was really weird that it would load configuration, but it did. I know because it erased blocks first, then programmed.
