I typically lock my key in the car using the keypad on the door. I have never had an issue with this, until now! The other day I'm out with the family and lock my key in the car. We go to leave and I pre-start the car through the app and unlocked the doors, but the doors didn't actually unlock. I turned off the truck and tried to unlock the doors again, no luck.
I continued to try to use the keypad and the app, but the doors wouldn't unlock. I could see the car was responding to both the keypad and the app. The side mirrors would open & close as expected each time I tried. I could also see the headlights flash each time I locked and unlocked the door. But no matter what, the actual doors would not unlock.
I ended up taking a Lyft home to get the spare key and unlocked the car. I tried replicating the issue but could not. After getting in, everything worked as expected and has worked fine for the last few weeks.
What a hassle! And now I am terrified to lock my key in the car in case it happens again and I'm further from home.
Has anyone had this issue? Did I get just experience a one off? I cant figure out what would cause the car to respond to the unlock, but not actually unlock the doors. Some type of security feature? Unfortunately, this has ruined my trust in locking the key in the car - which I LOVED to do.
