I love this stuff. Been a lot of fun to experiment with.

Two questions from me about the OBDLink MX+:

  • Can I have more than one "imported" map? I had the Bruce map and then tried to import the TurboPilot map and it apparently over-wrote Bruce's. I know that I can create several custom maps but my perception is that only one "imported" map at a time?
  • Can I use the OBDLink MX+ via bluetooth to do FORSCAN edits?
thanks all

You can use the MX for Forscan.
However I would not use it to flash any modules. It's not recommended for that feature. However, a very small percentage of us Forscan Asbuilt editors ever flash anything.

I know you get certain decisions in the app during "import" that allows you to overwrite or not. I'm not sure if there is a combination of choices that would result in you being able to harvest dashboards from multiple import files. I'll try some experimenting between 2 phones and see if that's plausible.

It's in a couple of different threads around here. Look for OBDlink in the title.

If you can't find it, later when I get home I'll post it again. My PID phone isn't with me today at the office.
I have found some but every time I click on them they say unreadable. Might be something I am doing wrong.

Those are stg files that are named pdf files so that the website will allow us to upload them.
So you can't "read them".
You can download them them.
Then rename the extension on the file, changing the pdf to stg.

Example: File you download is named "obddashboardexport.pdf"
Edit the file name and change it to
"obddashboardexport.stg"

Then open the OBDlink app, go to settings, click the eclipse, choose import, and point to the file with the stg extension.

I am a little slow but I figured it out. Thank you for the help. Just have to find your newer one now lol.

Did you get something older than this?

Yep. I think I might have found your first revision. This is the one I was looking for!

Last question hopefully. Why does mine show MPH for everything? I loved your setup cause want to monitor my batteries. Do not think MPH should be there.
Thank you

Thanks for sharing this again. I downloaded and imported, but somehow gauges on bottom all have mph units? Rookie error I imagine.

Something about your import did not map each gauge to the appropriate PID.

Did you add the enhanced package of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury pids to the app?

And in the vehicle editor, did you choose 2022 year model?

Yes I believe so.

Hmm.
You can map each gauge manually. But I posted those gauge mapping screenshots on the other thread.

I see that our screen resolutions differ some too. So you'll be doing some "drag and move" work too.

I started over from scratch. Must have made a mistake somewhere. It is working now. Yes on the second page I had a bit of drag and drop to do lol.

Thanks again for the help!

I went back in and added Ford 2022 Enhanced Diagnostics (I already had 2023), now I have the correct units.

I'm still trying to figure out how you make the circular gauges that are cut off on bottom?

Thanks.

This forum cost me more money! I bought a OBLINK M+, and went through the process of setting up PIDs. After observing them for a few days, I now have questions:

1) I noticed that my battery is always at 14.5 volts. I tried fooling around with the fan switch on the HVAC: running it through different fan speeds, including going from 1 through 6. No change in voltage. Is that "hack" that I read about applicable only to PBs?

2) My transmission fluid never got warmer than 193 degrees. How am I supposed to check the fluid level correctly if Ford wants it checked at 206 degrees?

What is your LV (12V) SOC?
If it's low enough, you don't need the fan speed 5 hack to keep the DC/DC converter above 12.7V.

And 193F is still a fully warmed up transmission, especially if you have cool/cold ambients and your engine coolant temps are down around that temp too.
