Looking for an applicable app that can display trans temps. I have a ELM327 BAFX. The consensus is that the Torque pro does not give me the pid for trans temp.? I'm not into Forscan . Just want to read the dip stick correctly at the specified temp. Do I need to purchase a ford specific
pid pkg? with Torque pro or OBD Fusion?
Thanks for your inputs Tom

I don't know why it wouldn't get that PID but OBDLink or OBD Fusion has pretty much everything that is in Forscan. Just need to pay for the enhanced PID or buy an OBDLink adapter.

Torque Pro if you have it add the Ford PID and you'll have transmission temperature. I have Torque for years but switched to OBDLink. They duplicated and surpassed Torque in all but the advanced PID functions. Those are not needed when OBDLink has PID with the calculations done by app.

If you buy a compatible OBDLink adapter, then you have what you need to enable trans (and other) temp displays under the idiot gauges using (free) FORScan ... ?

I purchased the enhanced ford pids. Everything went well but can't seam to pull out the trans temp value. When I'm in the 'View Networks' I have the 'A' network only. There you can find the power train module with 133 supported parameters, including the trans temp. It won't highlight when you click on it. My next move was to go into diagnostics, there I clicked on pid snapshot, tons of engine variables but nothing for the trans temperature. I'm missing something....
I would appreciate any feedback from you guys thanks a bunch Tom

in both of your operational scenarios: (presumably)adding to a dashboard and going into diagnostics, the trans temp PID can be selected. The difference between us is I have OBD Fusion running on iOS/ipadOs.

I think I have an issue with my old adapter. I have the enhanced PIDS w/Fusion been talking to their support with no luck now nothing is reading.
How would a OBDLink EX work with a OTG cable to my Android I could use my laptop when I start to use forscan at a later date. Those MX's are $140!
Thanks for your time fordtruckman2003

Sorry to read issues with the adapter. Older elm devices could not access all networks on other OBD pins. Back in 2003 I was using elm with a big PCB board and serial cable to laptop. Things have come a long way since then.

OBDLink MX+ is supposed to include enhanced PID with purchase price when using their OBDLink app. It always runs behind OBD Fusion because it is OBD Fusion but limited to only OBDLink adapters.

Bluetooth is the way to go for adapters. I would not want a cable in my way. I use the older OBDLink MX (no plus) and it works fine. I just paid the $15 enhanced PID charge instead of buying new adapter.

Black Friday is here check Amazon usually you can see discounts on adapter this time of year or on the prime days.

I'm done playing around with this BAFX reader. so I've decided to go with the MX plus better price at Obdlink than Amazon, unless you have prime then they're both at $112 Thanks for your time fordtruckman

Amazon Black Friday deal

That's if you have prime only customers. I don't so I checked the Obdlink and they are at $112 also.
I'm getting to find alternatives to amzn.
