Just picked up my ‘22 F150 XLT last Thursday and had some strange occurrences this evening.
Got in the truck after work where it sat parked all day and upon starting the truck my connectivity/spotify/Google Maps were not on my screen as they were when I got to work this am. After trying to figure out what was going on and what to check I finally managed to remember Apple CarPlay was the setting I use - Checked my Bluetooth on my phone and it said not connected and I reconnected - Very odd.

While driving home my auto off at red lights did not activate at all - also I noticed that I did not observe the 2 green lines for my lane departure nor did it vibrate when I intentionally drifted to see why it wasn’t illuminated when I didn’t turn it off. It seemed that they were off but then kicked in randomly.

I drove to a dealer as there is one 3 minutes from my home to just ask some questions as the vehicle is still new to me and maybe I’m still just learning but was told it could be a failing battery.

Also my FordApp is extremely delayed and doesn’t seem to be connected well and updating because my fuel level is wrong along with the status of my vehicle being on/off well after no longer driving

sound correct or perhaps user error/understanding?

It could very well be a weak battery causing those issues. Trucks in ‘22 sat around a lot waiting for parts while the battery died which is bad for them. Assuming not a powerboost, you can replace the H6 with an H8 AGM. Dont buy it from Ford, Motorcraft batteries suck lately. Go to your favorite car parts store and get their brand. Reset the BMS.

Because it’s Ford certified - and I haven’t even had it for a week and have some warranty still - would you still advise against letting the dealer install it? I know a battery isn’t a warrantied item, but because it’s going to be going to the dealer for things for a while - I was considering going there.

I suppose if they’ll replace the battery for free then ok fine. My bet they’ll test it and tell you it’s fine but I’d still say it is likely the battery. They’ll only install the same size H6 which has less capacity than an H7 or H8. More capacity and a different brand of battery is your best bet but free is hard to argue with.

I don’t know about free - I’d have to see how it could potentially be free, in my paperwork, but I’d love that if so!

Your Lane Keeping not activating may be a function of speed. Under 40 MPH it is inactive.

I decided back in late 2023 it was worth the 200 something Canadian to buy my own H8 instead of fighting with Ford to get me a new Motorcraft battery. There also was a software update that made battery charging much more aggressive than before.

Thank you. I am going to pop the hood before work and see what battery is there (it’s the original the dealer told me) and then go larger on my own.

About these updates - Where can I view this information in the vehicle - I have OTA set for a few different days per week - but since I just got it not even a week ago I want to make sure everything is updated to where it should be OR can I go to the dealer to get it updated?

Is there any correlation as to why my ford app is not currently showing my vehicle as OFF when I just opened the app this morning and it’s been parked all night? Any settings inside I need to be looking at to make sure they are set correctly?

Your truck is about three years old, which is about the life I would expect from any OEM battery.
My ‘22 XLT PowerBoost is a little over three years old, so I am expecting it to need new batteries (there are two batteries in mine) sometime this year.

I have a new to me 22' also and also have been experiencing some similar issues. I randomly get the "System Off to Save Battery" message on my screen. I have charged my battery multiple times and it always charges up fine but issue returns intermittently. Sometimes I will not get the puddle lights coming on as I get close to my truck while carrying the key fob...other times it works fine. I am thinking it is the original battery as well as it is a motor craft h6. I plan to replace it soon ...looking at a NAPA AGM H8. One issue that doesn't help is I live very close to work so truck doesn't get driven many miles during the week.

These newer vehicles are strange. My truck will make random whirring noises which I notice sometimes if I am outside near it. My wife's Lexus also does similar. I came out into the garage this morning and it was making an electrical noise that sounded like a small air compressor running....car had been parked all night and keys in the house. Not the first time I have heard it.

Because I'm aware that its the OE battery I'm going to change it regardless just to be at a clean slate for myself. Reading says we have the option (XLT FOR ME) to possibly go to the 800 or maybe 850 cca but I did read that the 850 might not fit. I might just do an 800 which is for Lariat trim, and that should be an improvement

Oh, an H7 will work. But your battery tray on a non-powerboost will fit an H8. For a little more in cost you have added insurance that your battery gremlins won't return.

Ahhhhh understood! I'll look into the H8 then! Thank you very!
