New member here. I've been retired from the army for a while and work on Fort Leonard Wood for range operations as an inspector. I've owned several Fords over the years, but nothing more recent than a 2007 EB Expedition with a 3V 5.4 that was relatively trouble free.

I narrowed down my 1/2-ton choice to Ford after Toyota's miserable MPG's and uncomfortable seats completely eliminated them from contention. The Chevy's seats weren't much better so that left the Ford......so I did quite a bit of research on rebates to see where the sweet spot was, and I landed on the 502A Lariat. Not cheap, but still had plenty of options to keep my wife comfortable since lupus has kicked her ass thoroughly. I really wanted a vehicle that she could ride in that allows her to relax (as much as possible anyway). I decided to double check Ford's CPO site to see how much of a difference it would be for an older truck with some miles on it. I found a gold certified 600A King Ranch (I didn't want the pano roof) and negotiated a deal that I was satisfied with. After adding in the cost of a 120k bumper to bumper warranty from CNA I ended up being over five grand under the price of a new 201A 4x4 STX after all the current rebates.

Anyway.......enough of the background. My wife had me pick up part of her new living room set. I don't think it would have fit in my Golf GTI.....maybe the smaller end tables, but that's about it. ? The important part is that my wife is comfortable in the passenger seat.

My initial impression of this pickup has been great, it gets 20-22 mpg on the interstate and has been in the 24-26 range around town. I just ordered some pieces from megaohm and am researching upgrades for the lackluster B&O stereo.

My wife had me delivering her new living room furniture on the same day I bought it.

The color is unique for sure. It is darker than I would prefer.....but at least it isn't black.

Brighter reverse lights or possibly a tailgate light bar, since I'm getting the windows tinted today will probably be coming soon. I usually tune and modify all my turbo vehicles.......but this one will stay mechanically stock so I can use the warranty, if needed.

My wife likes the seats a lot. Suspension could use some polishing though.......I might end up looking at some quality coilovers to level it and also reduce the pitch and roll.

Drive and enjoy. Just remember you are driving what is basically a computer on wheels. As such it may have a few quirks since it is a machine. If you look for something to gripe about in it you will find it. If you stay positive and understand that things can break or malfunction you will be happy with it.

I have had 6 Ford F150's in the last 20 years and enjoyed every one of them.

I definitely plan on keeping it for a while. I've never purchased an extended warranty......much less a bumper to bumper version of one them. I expect that there will be issues.....but that’s what the warranty is for.
