My order was placed 13 weeks ago this Wednesday.
The dealer messaged me Friday saying they were invoiced for my order, I have no idea if that really means anything good or bad about whether or not I’ll see my truck in the next couple of weeks.

Does anybody here know if that’s a good sign?

If they have a Vin it’s probably a great sign

I’ve had the vin since February 11, so I didn’t know if this was of any consequence or not.

Take the vin and plug it into the tracker. Make sure you get your dealer order number as well. If you need a more in-depth tracker solution contact Pioneer74 on the F150 forum. Good luck and be patient. I’m picking mine up tomorrow and that order was placed in September!

Although we're well underway in the model year I do remember the Snow Plow option was listed as Late Availability ever since they went on sale. I haven't looked closely at the B&P site since probably late January but even then it was showing late availability and I remember the list Curry Bob used to post it was always on there as no availability. You'd think by now it would be available but with a lot of other add ons coming and going the only way to know for sure is to ask a dealer I think they get a new commodity list every Monday or Tuesday.

Same for me! I placed mine in Early August and it was mid February delivery. Very happy I waited. Love the truck. Waiting stinks, but I think you'll be glad! If you have a VIN, it's very good news. The tracker is very helpful and should show quite a bit of info. Mine took a while from Vin to production, but then it sped up. If you don't they are still committed to pushing them through as quickly as they can. Ironically Ford wants to deliver as much as you want your truck! They want sales and $$, and you want a truck. The delays no one wants! Good luck

My dealer told me today that the snow plow prep on my build was causing a delay due to parts shortages. I told him to remove that option from my build since the only reason I ordered it was because the dealer told me to for re-sale value. I was told they moved me from a priority 10 to a priority 1 now so hopefully this moved things along.
Does anyone here understand the “priority” ranking? Intuitively the lower the number (ie 1) should be the highest priority...
Does anybody know for sure ( asks the guy with a priority 10 on his build sheet...?)

Dealer can assign priority code from 10 to 99 (I believe). 10 is the best priority a dealer can assign. That means that dealer wants that order to be built BEFORE any of his other orders that have priorities of 11 or 12 or ....

If he gave you 10 that is the best he can do. BTW most dealers assign all custom orders to a 10.

Ford Manufacturing can assign orders (once they get the order) to a number below 10 (i.e. 1 to 9) which is an even BETTER priority. I believe this only happens when they have an emergency to replace a custom order that was damaged in transit to the dealer (or I guess when Ford CEO wants a new car).

However, every Ford dealer in the world is assigning priority 10 to their customer orders, so what does that do....? It puts you ahead of HIS retail orders. Doesn't necessarily put you ahead of another dealers retail orders... why...

Well each dealer gets a weekly build number of slots. A small dealer may only get 1 or 2 slots a week. A volume dealer might get 10 or 50.

So your dealer priority only gets you priority within that dealers order slots available. If your dealer is small (say 1 slot a week) and he has 10 custom orders it will take 10 weeks before that last "high" priority order gets into the Ford build stream. And if a volume dealer that has 50 slots a week and he fills them all with his retail orders, then if you were the tenth custom order at your small dealer, then the large dealer will get 450 RETAIL trucks built before you get your custom order built (i.e. 9 weeks time 50 retail orders, tenth week your dealers tenth custom order then comes into the priority).

This would seem to imply when doing a custom order in a supply constrained environment then only go to high volume dealers. But you still really don't know, as if that high volume dealer already is taking 50 custom orders a week (i.e he's filled up his weekly slots) you still will be waiting.

No way to tell unless you could have visibility to which dealer has an unused build slot next week. And there is no way you can get that info. And an individual dealer does NOT have all the info either (i.e. he knows he has an unused slot next week, but he doesn't know about the other 1000's of dealers). Though it would be good if you trusted your dealer (large or small) and he really had an unused slot next week, then you will be near the top of all the orders brought in next week (if you place your order) but still behind whatever happened across the world at dealers this week, and how many high priority (priority 10) orders they all had left hanging that didn't get picked up after this weeks allocations.

Gotta tell ya to be patient & it'll be worth it in the long run. We ordered out our Powerboost late NOV last year & took delivery mid-FEB. Our priority number on our dealer's order was 22 - go figure. We traded our 2017 F250 which we ordered in JUL of '16 & took delivery just before Christmas of '16. Sure hope the delays are much better than our 2016 experience. Our '21 F150 rides like a dream & handles even better. We had an issue with a LOW 12 VOLT BATTERY issue that the dealer corrected with TSB 21-2097. This chip shortage could linger much of the year but if you can hold out the wait will be worth it. Good luck!

Back in December 19 2020 I purchased a new F150. I left my 2017 F150 as a trade due to good trade in value at the time expecting a 6-8 week new vehicle. I still don’t have anything and the dealer at Dixie Ford stated due to the plow reinforcement option it’s on hold. How can Ford offer something and still not have any idea of when I’m going to get the truck. Does anyone have a new truck with this option and received it yet? Also who could I talk to about getting something done. Thanks
Almost a Year and Still no VIN. Dealership is asking me to remove box liner spray and wheel-well plastic liner and they will try to get the plow prep package. They also said the truck can get the spray box liner at dealership and the wheel-well installed at there place?

Wow - It might be worth a try, but those two options should only be a few day delay, not a year thing. Also see if the dealer can get the Ford rep to get you a high priority (like 1). You might also try to PM @Ford Motor Company and see if they can assist or provide any more info.

Unfortunately from what we have seen on this site it probably has more to do with the plow prep then the other two, there have been many trucks with those built And delivered. I had spray in from the factory but the liners I bought on eBay cheaper and they are literally a 5 min install. Good luck after a year it shouldn’t matter what was ordered that’s just nuts!
