Hello All

I recently purchased a ‘23 F150 with the drop-in bed liner. I’m wondering what bed racks y’all suggest I get. I prefer bed racks that are compatible with bed covers. Feel free to suggest which bed covers are worth getting as well. I’m new to this realm of accessories, and I know that the drop-in liner can sometime limit the options due to compatibility issues.

Thanks in advance

I used to have a low rack system which killed my access to my bed. As nice as it was having my tent lower, I can't recommend it. I eventually went with the adarac pro series rack with their Lomax cover. Wonderful combination and I cant recommend it enough. It's solid as a rock and their hardware is great. I've never once had to retighten anything and I have full bed access with the tri fold cover.

Sorry I don't have a great picture of it right now but here's a sort of side profile.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve noticed that company recently and am attracted to their racks for sure. I have no interest in a low rack; I’ll be hauling a 14 foot kayak so that wouldn’t work. I’ll definitely look into whether that bed cover is compatible with my drop in liner

It will depend on what type of bed cover you want. If you want to use a folding or rolling cover, companies like Yakima or some of the others mentioned above will work with those. If you want to do a retractable, such as retrax, then RCI is a great option as they make tonneau cover brackets for their racks. Thats what we have on our shop build Tremor (Rci w/ Retrax). Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any questions. Happy to help

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll look into those models. I’m drawn to the retractable covers simply because I can access the entire bed with the cover fully retracted.

That is what we liked about the retrax cover as well. The only down side though, is you do lose a little bit of bed space due to the canister sitting in the bed. For our build, it wasnt a deal breaker at all. But for some that could be an important feature.

I can't speak to an F150 (I've only had mine a week), but on my Ranger I was a fan on Billie Bars + a rolling tonneau cover. For my new 150, I may go a different route. I've been browsing the forum looking at other people's setups for camping, biking, kayaking, etc. Here: Let's see your tent setup | f150gen14 Forums. If I had the money, I really like the Diamondback + FrontRunner systems. But even so, I loved having full bad access by just rolling up a tonneau.

I think the simplest thing to do is to figure out exactly what you'd like.
Would you like a soft cover? Soft covers are great values but often aren't as versatile as hard covers (retractable or folding) plus they don't last quite as long.
Do you think you'll need rack height adjustability? How about the ability to adjust the upright spacing along the bed rails?
How important is 100% access to the bed to you?
I've done more research than I care to admit about bed racks and tonneau covers and like some others who have gone thru a few different combinations of both it's lightened my wallet but given me much insight ?

You might look into Thule racks. Here is mine on the 18. The racks slide along the rails and can be removed if not required , leaving the rails on the truck, or slide together by the window if you want to leave them on the truck. Also you can purchase locks for the rack to resist in them being stolen. On the expensive side though, but well made. It does take some time to get the rails set correctly on the sides of the box.

Thank you, that’s certainly a good point. I simply need a rack that is y’all enough to clear the cab to haul longer kayaks; access to 100% of the bed isn’t a necessity, but would be preferred. After all the suggestions and research I’ve done, I think an Adarac rack and a simple roll up will be perfect for what I need. I don’t need a rack that has adjustable height, and I like the weight capacity of the Adarac racks

I have the Range Industries medium rack - bolts right up to the box link location with no drilling - works fantastic.

Ain't that the truth.

Thank you, that’s certainly a good point.
Just remember tonneau covers and rack systems don't always play well together.

I bought the Elevate rack system from RealTruck and they swore it was a seemless match for my Bakflip. But it wasn't even close; it raised the tonneau cover up so as to make it unusable. Fortunately, after much effort and back & forth I was able to return it and got my money back (RealTruck was actually quite helpful in both admitting they goofed and setting up the return).
