You can’t activate connected navigation on a truck that didn’t come with it to my knowledge. You can use the basic routing though.

I got my nav APIM installed yesterday. It went really well, i think..... I kept the Forscan config from the APIM and made modifications to it's as-built. (I like the 75th anniversary entry screen).

I get a GPS signal and the Map shows my position and what road I am on. SiriusXM works as it should. I checked for updates and I get the message that all sofware is up-to-date.

So my questions are:
How do I go about activating the connected nav so I get the features? I don't mind subscribing to Ford's service.
Should I worry about getting OTA updates to my APIM?
What about updates to other modules? Will those still come down automatically?
Is there anyway to check if I am receiving OTA updates? I'm okay with the APIM the way it is. I plan to put the old APIM back in and disable the SiriusXM when I return the car to Ford in 2 1/2 years.
what forscan changes did you make to get navigation to show up

you cant manually activate the connected cloud navigation. You "might" be able to get on the phone for hours with Ford and let them know you added nav. They might swap the serial in their backend system so you can subscribe but I wouldn't hold your breath. Since your part number is now a mismatch, OTA will probably stop. You can always update the apim manually

Any insight on if it is even possible to activate connected nav services on a nav deleted truck?

I cant give the details. I cant. Ford is already watching me like a hawk waiting for me to give something out that they can nail me.

If I give out info that undermines subscription services that will be what they want.

Same reason I cant give out BlueCruise activation info. I already know Ford has sent people on here to try and entice me into giving it.

I dont even know Ill do it when someone buys from the company I work for. I dont need Ford coming after them either.

You would think Ford would contact me and try to work with me instead of threatening me the way they have.

Edit _ It is beyond STUPID for Ford to refuse adding the connected services to trucks if requested. Makes no sense. Same as when Sirius fights people to add travel link. I dont comprehend it. Add it.. and take the money.

Understand, I don’t want it for free. I want to pay them for it but they don’t seem to have any on ramp for people that want to add it.

thank you. Wasn’t sure if that’s what it was but for some reason is not showing up for me, even after a couple of apim resets

I wish you could. I know you would pay.. I would too. In Fact I pay for it on my truck. I could get around it if I wanted to but I do pay

I have a 22 Bronco that had No factory nav. I wanted to have the connected services on it also. I had to do what I had to do. Since Ford wont add it through proper channels

Same as Blue Cruise in my truck. I added it. I have tried every way to have it added.. They laugh at me. So I have to do what I have to do. Since they wont take my money

For those of you that want to tackle replacing the APIM to add the navigation component, below are a few pictures that of the process. It’s very simple: Remove the trim ring around the screen, remove the long horizontal trim piece from the start button to passenger vent, remove both sides of the center console trim. The HVAC module is held in with 4 screws, remove those and pull out firmly. You’ll need to unplug a few connectors on the left side to allow it to swing out of the way and you have access to remove the APIM. There’s no need to remove the screen.

As far as finding an appropriate part for a 22 model year, good luck! I found a cheap but working 21 model year APIM that unfortunately wouldn’t interface. The build date was 4/2021

I found a 23 model year APIM with a build date of 1/21/23 and installed it. I got the map to show up but cannot get any of the interactive features to work. Search, Recents, Saved are all greyed out. When I tap the button on the screen it gives me the "requires activation" message. Is this the most you can do with nav if you replace the APIM with a nav APIM?

I've reached the limit on what I can do on my own with Forscan and I don't think the dealer would be of any help because they didn't replace the APIM. I'm thinking about pulling the new APIM and putting the old one back in so I get back the automatic OTA updates. And, I'll go back to using Waze as my navigation aid.

Any thoughts?

You can't do anything about the connected navigation options, but you should be able to do basic routing. What software version is on that APIM?

If it were me I just ask the dealer if they can do it.

I mean yes these trucks had a forced removal but if you have a truck and it does have nav and your Apim shorts out there has to be a way to swap modules.

Ford has to be able to do this especially in a warranty situation!

if it were me if the first dealer say No I would keep asking other dealers till i get a yes
