It is another it those obscure ford hard to locate, define, look up, or even name parts, with an orphan number.

I think it might be a GATEWAY CONTROL MODULE or communication GATEWAY CONTROL MODULE?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/195513999047

Some one lists it as a pedestrian alerts module?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/295068394733

Can not find it in the catalog via that or any other number.

As far as installing it I would probably just keep yours. They probably were only supposed to send the APIM, just a case of the puller not knowing their parts.

"Can not find it in the catalog via that or any other number. "
Did you notice the part number prefix, RU5T? If you use the Ford Part Number decoder ring, the first letter R means it is 2024 model year.

I guess "It is another it those obscure ford hard to locate, define, look up, or even name parts, with an orphan number. " Crazy!

Yeah the R is a bit bewildering in its self. I was mainly was looking at the 14H474 as well as just trying to find a part group that had it or something close.

That's the gateway module. DO NOT install that unless you want a headache. Make sure all your updates have been completed if you have a way to check and do those if you go ahead with the nav APIM. There's a chance you may lose further OTA updates if it's a mismatch, even with it functioning fine.

Here you go just found it. What is weird is on the connected diagram that part number is not present it is numbered something else in the photo.

But if anyone is ever to need one it is valuable 1400!

Anyone need a Gateway Module? I have an extra one for sale, cheap. LOL.

I'll probably end up sending it back to my parts guy in Detroit. Like I said in an previous post, his shop is near the Ford Rouge Dearborn Truck Plant. It probably "fell off the truck" on it's way to the assembly line. ;-)

I don't have a way to check the updates. My guess is it's something the dealer has to do with a USB drive like back in the old days.

Or, the VIN -- APIM needs to be registered with Ford on the back-end. Are you referring to the OTA updates through the cellular network or WiFi connection?

I guess we'll see when I install it this week. Need to get the correct RH antenna, first.

So, some may disagree but I think you really ought to have a way to access FDRS for the ability to run PMI on any module replacement. Yes, you can copy and paste your as-built with Forscan but if you run into any problems you're going to need FDRS.

The updates on 2021-up are done with a USB but it's an entirely different process involving FDRS. Look into the stickied thread in this section if you have questions.

Agreed, especially when swapping larger components that have individual serial numbers, etc. that need to be matched back to the VIN, PMI is the only way to make everything happy and match back on the server side.

What's a stickied thread and how do I look into it? Is there a link or something? What do I look for in terms of keywords? PMI? FDRS? I don't even know what PMI is. :-/ Thanks for the additional help.

That is a 23 Gateway. You cant PMI it. It is not a acceptable part number for anything other than a 23.

You swap that gateway out and youll cause issues you may never be able to resolve.

I'm not swapping the Gateway, just the APIM. In a previous post someone said I need to update the APIM. The APIM is for a 2023.

If you have a late build 22 You can use the APIM.. BUT it is at a 23 software level. You cant upgrade or downgrade. Youll cause an issue that way also

This stuff isnt as clear cut as some believe. You can cause a total shutdown of future updates by installing a module at the wrong version.

I have a late-build 2022 (September 23, 2022*) with "cnnctd nav/SiriusXM removal" and I am aware of the dealer notice concerning the removal and how it cannot be re-added. The 2022 APIM part is no where to be found but the 2023 part was available. I installed the 2023. What happens when A customer who needs to replace their 2022 APIM because of a malfunction or damage? Hypothetically, They would have to install a 2021 or 2023 because if 2022s are not available. What does the dealer do when they replace the malfunctioning APIM with a new one? Again, I tried to order a 2022 APIM through the dealer but there were none to be found.

I'm looking for a way to flash the firmware of the APIM so that it registers with my VIN so I can activate the nav and continue to receive OTA updates. Am I being too optimistic? I guess we'll find out. :)

*The 2023 models started rolling off the assembly line the week after mine was built.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too.
I know for sure it requires changes to the unmapped GWM which in itself is a challenge but even after you get it programmed correctly, the truck still cant pull live data. Which I believe is going to be on ford's side. Hopefully Ford will be understanding to all the people that had to buy nav deleted trucks and give us an on ramp to getting connected services.
I got my nav APIM installed yesterday. It went really well, i think..... I kept the Forscan config from the APIM and made modifications to it's as-built. (I like the 75th anniversary entry screen).

I get a GPS signal and the Map shows my position and what road I am on. SiriusXM works as it should. I checked for updates and I get the message that all sofware is up-to-date.

So my questions are:
How do I go about activating the connected nav so I get the features? I don't mind subscribing to Ford's service.
Should I worry about getting OTA updates to my APIM?
What about updates to other modules? Will those still come down automatically?
Is there anyway to check if I am receiving OTA updates? I'm okay with the APIM the way it is. I plan to put the old APIM back in and disable the SiriusXM when I return the car to Ford in 2 1/2 years.
