Okay, I get it. Thank you for clarifying the GPS vs. XM frequencies. That throws out my "use the same cable for both" theory.

So with the correct RH antenna (burgundy/Curry) you send XM signal down to the connection in the glove box and use the 10E928 cable to connect one to the APM? what do you do with the blue connector?

I don't understand why in @XLT22's original post he describes modifying the removed antenna and using double-sided tape and sticking it to the inside of the roof, effectively creating a three-lead antenna? If I put in 10E928 won't that restore the "Accurate FordPass" location issue? I'm still confused about what to do with the disconnected Blue connection.

Anyone else want to chime in?

EDIT: I've already posted my opinion on CarPlay. The experience is mediocre at best.
On previous Ford Sync vehicles, I could use the Smartphone App like Waze outside of Carplay. I can't seem to get that working with my current vehicle.

Is that the right FARKA connection? Not sure what end is on the cable above the headliner?
Good point thsnks!

The blue connector on the truck and the Amazon antenna are both female.

So with that Amazon Nav antenna you would need an adapter anyway a short universal FRAKA Z should solve that issue.

Nothing

That’s the problem with out a NAV APIM there is no way of getting a GPS signal from XM’s sat.

Unless you come up with a way to add a GPS antenna to the rear cab blue connection.

I'm hoping I can just mount the current antenna above the headliner after removing it but not sure if there is enough room in the corner. Otherwise Wallyo's Amazon one will be the way to go as it way smaller.

Hey @Wallyo,

Did you notice on this parts diagram the part number of the RH and LH antennas (18A984B and 18A984B respectively)? Have you looked up this part number on the Ford Parts website? The part number is for the AM/FM antenna cable. I then noticed that the part number for the AM/FM antenna cable is is 18A984C. WTF? Is this parts diagram wrong?

Any thoughts?

This is the right sided antenna I installed.

This is all covered in the first post. On non nav trucks, the Cell/GPS antenna only goes to the TCU on the back wall of the cab. On nav equipped trucks, the Cell/GPS(which also picks up Sirius) antenna feeds the cell signal to the TCU and GPS/Sirius signal to the ACM and APIM via the splitter noted in the OP.

If you aren’t adding a navigation APIM, you can pull the original GPS lead and receiver from your factory antenna and plug it in as it originally was to restore the accurate location in FordPass if you care about that.

Okay. I think I understand this now.... kinda.

So my plan will be to order the RH roof antenna, LC32-19A390-A, and the under dash/glovebox splitter cable, ML3Z-10E928-A, and go without an accurate FordPass location. And, add the nav APIM later. I have the same sentiment about FordPass app as I do with CarPlay and it's less-than-optimal user experience.

On that note, do you have leads/recommendations on where to get my hands on a late-model APIM with nav? Can I order one from the dealer just like the antenna and the cable? If so, what's the part number of the APIM w/Nav? @riderryan92's has two part numbers on it.

Thanks again for all your help.
if available you should be able to order one,
Last I looked brand new they where running about 6oo

Cheaper for a used one from a salvage yard online.

But they are stamped if “dropped discard “. So proceed with extreme caution.

Best to talk directly with parts dept in person. To get a number

This is 2021 the 2022 catalog is not fully on line yet so do not go by what I posted it is just a starting point.

In the catalog it is under body.

https://www.oemfordpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/ford-module-mu5z14g371g?c=Zz1ib2R5JnM9c291bmQtc3lzdGVtJmw9MTEmbj1Bc3NlbWJsaWVzIFBhZ2UmYT1mb3JkJm89Zi0xNTAmeT0yMDIxJnQ9eGx0JmU9My01bC12Ni1nYXM=

side note I think the 2 different nav subscriptions use the same unit the programming is what changes.

When this happened with the delete Ford told dealerships that customers will NOT be able to add Xm or Nav in the future.

therefore depending on the dealerships they may be less then helpful.

If you add the navigation APIM, you can switch off the GPS from TCU flag in Forscan since the GPS reporting is handled from the APIM at that point.

Was trying to find this yesterday but didn’t found it today came across it initially weeks ago.

I know nothing about the seller all I do know is:

they claim the APIMs have never been installed.

they also state that They are NOT selling an upgrade but replacement parts.

It would work but If you put a 21MY APIM in a 22MY truck, you will not get OTA updates.
Best to stick to a 22MY APIM. Very hard to find but it's worth the search to not have to deal with forcing an update all the time.

I am not doing this myself just trying to help out others. But got to ask fo you know what is involved to “program” a Nav APIM to a 2022 f150 with nav deleted?

Not necessary the Forscan but so the APIM is registered with ford?

I'm still trying to find the correct part number. it doesn't seem to be in any of the 2022 parts catalog. Also, what do you mean by 22MY, 21MY, etc?

I would personally stay away from an APIM at that price. That's me though.

I'm not aware of any way to add the connected navigation service. You can have the basic nav but won't have traffic info, weather, etc.

I activated SXM in another 2022 302A today and it went smoothly again. Had the owner get on the Sirius web chat and it took about as long for the agent to activate everything as it did to get the FAKRA extension plugged into the ACM. New factory antenna and it was good to go.
