Hi all, like many others east of the Mississippi, air quality in West Michigan has been pretty bad this past week as a result of smoke from the Canadian wildfires. Now my truck interior smells like a campfire that has been put out with water. I would rather get rid of the odor rather than covering it up.

Suggests on removing the odor please.

PS I am going to try an activated charcoal pouch from china-zon.

2018 Volvo XC60 and 23' Tremor 5.0 ordered.
change your cabin filter. it's probably blocked so much of the smoke that particles are getting through. do a good clean of the entire interior. use a foam/shampoo for the cloth bits if possible.
if you do a good enough job, the smell should be gone.
can't be worse than an hour drive with a kid seat with puke on a hot day.

There are packages of baking soda sold by Arm and Hammer for odor control. I think they are actually intended for refrigerator use, but they will definitely help if you put one inside. They will absorb the odor and then can be emptied on a garden or flower pot, and the cardboard box can be recycled.

My suggestions:
-Replace cabin air filter.
-Run AC on circulate(once the smoke is gone, of course) for a few days to get a lot of air flow into the vehicle from the outside.
-Carpet extractor or steamer the carpets and all surfaces. Use a mild unscented APC with microfiber cloths
-Isopropyl alcohol to clean all of the interior windows thoroughly. You can use the blue shop towels, make sure there's zero residue left on the windows. Be careful if they are tinted and find out if iso is safe.
-Charcoal bags and or gonzo odor removing rocks.

Good luck

if you have leather seats
wipe them with warm dampend soft cloth, so soap, just warm water
