Hi fellow F150 owners, I have a question regarding this Ford Service Action 22G06, Heated Steering Wheel Performance Upgrade. Here is a link to the NHTSA website for this FSA, just in case you want to know more about it. You can also see the attached PDF for the latest document with the supplement.

I have the following truck:
Vehicle: F-150 Lariat PowerBoost
Model Year: 2023
Assembly Plant: Dearborn
Build Date: Feb, 2023

According to 22G06, my vehicle qualifies for the program and should have the heated steering wheel installed. I called my local dealership to see if I can make an appointment for this program, but the service advisor told me there is nothing in their OASIS system with my vehicle VIN number. They gave me a number for Ford Customer Service, and I should call the number and open a case.

I just finished an hour long call with an agent from Ford Customer Service, and to make a long story short, this program 22G06 is VIN number specific program, and if my vehicle VIN is not included, then there is nothing they can do about it. I asked for more explanation regarding the qualification of the program, since my vehicle checked all boxes for the qualification stated in the program. Again, no clear explanation from the agent, just saying this program is for vehicles with the heated steering wheel already installed, but since mine didn't come with it, therefore it's not eligible. This didn't make sense at all, because the program clearly states that this program is due to a global supply shortage of semiconductor chips.

Why is this program even released, if there is heated steering wheel already installed to affected vehicles? I tried my best to explain that my vehicle didn't come with the heated steering wheel, because of the chip shortage, and that was not my choice. But the agent didn't understand and kept saying the same thing over and ov again.

After talking on the phone for an hour, I gave up explaining. I tried to escalate the case, but it was denied and the agent won't do anything other than closing the case. Is there another way to get this issue resolved? Has anyone been able to have their heated steering wheel installed via this program 22G06?

Probably for vehicles that have the SCCM that supports heat, but just missing the heated wheel.

It was originally just for the F-150 Lightnings, which is why an HVAC unit wasn’t originally included in the TSB. That being said many people have been able to convince their dealers to retrofit the parts for them.

I bought the parts and did the mod myself before that dropped and have no regrets.

I received the same reply from my dealer. I continued to make my case using the argument that my truck qualifies for the upgrade as per the bulletin. They first said I need to talk to Ford Customer Service which I refused to do.
They than said my VIN is NOTR on the list and I asked, why not..
After 2 weeks I receioved a call from the dealer letting me know that my VIN # is on the list now and I received the upgrade.
Very happy with how this was handled by my dealer..

May I ask how you convinced your dealer to add your VIN # to the list? I tried to get my VIN # added through the dealer and Ford Customer Service, but no success... :(

all I did was having a conversation and didn't take a NO for an answer since my truck did meet all the requirement. I guess my dealer went the extra mile..
