Has anyone tried a Mustang gt intake manifold swap on a 21? Will it bolt up on the 21 5.0 the same as the past gen. Looking to pick up some power without going overboard and dropping 10g on a whipple.
Thanks

It'd still prob need tuned with intake change, my buddy that runs a popular race/street tuning in Houston says he cant touch 21 F150's yet.
Other than a Whipple.

Intake shouldnt need tune. If air intake/exuast does not, manifold should not.

I dont see any reason why the mustang manifold would not bolt. Might need to match year, but same engines.

If it does indeed bolt on, a tune would be needed for peak efficiency. The manifold volume scalar would need to be changed to reflect that of the Mustang so that VE calculations are correct. Intake cam timing would ideally be altered, along with ignition timing.

exactly, no reason to swap intakes if you dont tune to optimize it.

I still have my ported 18' laying around, but I assumed it would need some tuning to get anything out of it so I wouldn't throw it on unless you had a Livernois tune

Thanks for the reply’s,
I was curious if it was a direct swap like previous years. I agree it would be a waste without a tune. I was holding out to see if any other tuners would crack the code on the 2021s. Looks like livernois is it so I guess that’s the route I am going.
Thanks

Are the cams different on the Mustang as well?

I don’t know if it’s worth it at all, even if you swapped everything out and then tuned to match the Mustang’s 5.0, you might be losing area under the torque curve which is more important on the street as well as road courses on the track. Especially when you are in a 2.5 plus ton vehicle.

If anything, if you had a Mustang you might notice more of an improvement on the street changing out the Mustang 5.0 intakes for the F-150 stuff. You would need to compare the usable area under the torque curve to see though and I haven’t been able to find anything that shows the power curves of a stock ‘21+ F-150.

Back in the day, when you could do mods more easily and notice a more dramatic difference, I knew lots of dudes who were addicted to modding their motors and many were disappointed with the high HP cams and big valve heads. The sound was great but around town, unless you kept the revs up, they didn’t feel that peppy. Many were happier with adding horsepower and torque using the RV camshafts, which usually had the added bonus of running on pump gas. I knew one dude that had a 240Z with a Nissan diesel engine crankshaft from an airport luggage tug as one of the few mods and that thing was a beast on the track. Though what would you expect from increasing your displacement 20%?

Ford has done such a good job with the V8 in the F-150 that with its weight, I don’t think that anything less than a supercharger would be that much of a noticeable improvement. From the 0-60 numbers between the V8 and the 3.5 Ecoboost, it looks like the truck is traction limited anyway, so I think focusing on the tires and suspension will yield better results with a limited budget.

Good luck!

I know my 22 SPCB v8 with 3:73 gears is crazy fast above 3200rpm and 3 rd gear. Thank someone for the better brakes. It’s really noticeable compared to my 16 spcab v8. 6 spd with 3.73.

Do you mean pick up a few high RPM horsepower at the expense of both low RPM torque and mid RPM horsepower?

Unless you you are drag racing I don't see the practical benefit.

All I was looking for was if a gt manifold from a mustang would bolt onto a 2021 F150 similar to the previous gen truck. I understand how different mods can affect where you make power and losing power at low rpms will affect street driving. If anyone has bolted on a gt manifold to a 2021 f150 please post if it will fit.

thanks
