Hey there, I always change my own oil and service my own vehicles and typically use Amsoil, as I've had great luck with their products. I also like to order everything ahead of time and just have it on the shelf.

Any specific warnings or advice regarding which oil to use?

What about regarding the oil filter I should use?

Please advise.

I’m using the Mobil 1 5w30 truck and suv from walmart

has the ford number from the manual the back. I think with the start stop and lspi I’m gonna be bound to that rating.
It’s got a few more anti wear additives and I believe the viscosity and hdhs is a tad higher. Not much better than the std Mobil 1 but it’s not more money either.

Walmart Motorcraft oil filter.

Im a big olm guy but this much power, heavy truck, 12k towing, timing chains, twin turbos, I’m really figuring out 6qts ain’t enough for this interval.

a new base Camaro ss doesn’t tow, has 6500 rpm limit, one small timing chain and no turbo and has 10qts of 40 weight. Oil coolers out the wazoo.
What am I missing here lol

I’ve been using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30 with a Motorcraft filter.

If Amsoil Signature was more readily available and/or reasonable, then that would be #1 choice. My #2 choice is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (based on project farm oil bake-off) which I source at walmart.com and I bought a case of the Motorcraft filters from Amazon. My change interval is about 4500-5000 miles.

I've owned a couple of trucking companies in the past (actually sold the second one not but 3 weeks ago) and have had some special fleet account for years that allows me to order with a pretty solid discount, about 35% on most products.

Year ago racing motorcycles I saw much reduced wear when I shifted to Amsoil, and have been on it in everything, pretty much ever since.

I'll contact them and see what they recommend.

I run Schaefer’s oil. Our family has always believed it’s some of the best oil for our vehicles and equipment.

AmsOil & Canton Racing Products Filter - 25-194; 22mm spin on & 26-200/220 filter elements. The filter is an 8µ full flow filter. Planning on installing a bypass filter in the near future.

Schaefer's oil was go to back in my TDI days. What are you using in your F-150? Which engine?

I am using Mobile 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic, with the Ford Filter. It meets that newish Ford oil spec as well as being recommended by Mobile for Hybrids. As far as the filter goes, There are better filters out there, But with all the extra stuff on the PB, i wanted to stick with the filter those systems were designed for. Pressures, flow rates and bypasses and such.

Under Mechanical Maintenance I report installing a 1µ bypass oil filter. This is a fine filter that takes a small amount of oil flow (~1 qt/min) and bypasses the engine on a continuous basis. This serves to reduce the amount of "ash" floating around in the oil.
