Does anyone make an extra sunshade I can put on my moonroof for my 22 lariat crewcab? I want to roll back the automatic shade, add extra sunshade/insulation and roll back the truck built in shade.

When it is over 100 it still gets hot up top. Extra would be nice to keep it cooler!

Thanks

Window tinting is the only thing I know of, but that is not removeable.

Tint would help for sure. I was thinking a custom shade like a covercraft that fit above the ford screen.

ill keep looking too…

You need ceramic tint. The color doesn’t matter, the uv blocker does

Nobody seems to mention when recommending moonroof tinting that many reputable installers are refusing to do our large moonroofs because they crack under extreme summer heat once tinted on the interior side.

Great info and good to know. So probably it is best to simply turn down the inside air and turn up the fan.

thanks

Hence why I didn't want this gigantic moonroof in the first place. What the heck happened to the good ole' standard moonroof? If I wanted a convertible, I would have purchased a convertible.

continuing to rabbit hole here what do you guys think of using this

https://www.amazon.com/SmartSHIELD-...54&sprefix=aerogel+screen,aps,80&sr=8-30&th=1

I could cut to fit and then use some double sided tape to have it adhere to the glass. Then roll back the factory screen and you would never see it.

Have any of you tried this perhaps?

I do love my fitted covercraft sunscreen and sure wish they made something similar.

If you want to block it completely you could get someone to vinyl wrap the outside of the window in black (or a color) and that would keep it from entering the moonroof.

i wrapped my hangar with this as a vapor and insulation product its a r 17 ish or higher.
it worked WONDERS , then we added 6 inches of batts after the super freeze snow megadoen
but the prodex kept our hangar at 65F during the snow megadeon a few years back when we had days of negative temps

its thin enough i bet it wont interfere with roof opening or closing.
i never use mine, and wish it was not there, but i bought off the lot, so well you know

is there some science behind this? I’ve never heard of it but I’ve also never had a sunroof either. Ordered one though. What’s so special about the sun roof?

Ignore this advice. Modern glass that's in our trucks is not going to crack because tint is keeping out some heat.
I live in SE VA. It's hot as shit. I've had 35% Full ceramic on my sunroof and it's been nothing sort of miraculous. I can actually use it during the summer day. Ignore the bologna fear spreading and just get ceramic on it.

Thanks! I’ll look at ceramic on the glass. Any particular mfg you recommend? Can you post a picture too?

Yep ceramic is the best way to go. I went with XPel 70% ceramic tint on windshield and moon roof. 110% here in south texas and it makes a HUGE difference. Black leather is never hot to the touch and AC cools off the truck very quick.
