Absolutely no reason at all not to run it. It just has more additives for the seal conditioners in most cases.

I like this guy, he is the one who made me switch to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. It gets cold here (-10 to -30 Celsius for about a month in Jan/Feb). It's nice to know that the UP works a bit better in colder climates.

Is this the same stuff the dealer tries to sell me on every once in awhile? I've never had any issues, and maybe they have flagged my account, because I can't recall the last time they tried to sell me on an additive.

- I currently use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5w30
- I have 5qt of Valvoline Full Synthetic High Mileage 5w30 which I bought by accident last month
- I'm happy with the Pennzoil and wish to continue with it
- I don't want the Valvoline to go to waste or sit on the shelf for months until I reach high mileage (100,000km away from that)

Question

- Use the Valvoline and top it off with the Pennzoil on the next change and continue on with the Pennzoil per my preference
or
- Use the Pennzoil and top it off with the Valvoline for the next few oil changes

The research that I have done is it doesn't matter both are Full Synthetics and good oils.

I had a similar situation but not with high mileage. I used 1qt of the other brand synthetic with every oil change of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Truck runs fine

Yes - I’ve used BG MOA - these products are the best for these motors- I’ve got a powerboost F-150. Pint can - you can also buy them on eBay too. The 44K is great for the fuel tank too.

The only possible problem is worse fuel economy as the "high mileage" oil is engineered for engines with more wear on the moving parts. The viscosity profile is going to be different.

This is kind of what I was thinking. So anyways what I will do is this:

1. Place an ad up on FB Marketplace
2. If it doesn't sell I will wait until warmer weather (viscosity) to do the oil change using the Valvoline and topping it off with the Pennzoil
3. Live life and not make the same mistake again. To be true to myself, I will say that I sort of recall thinking it said "Highway Mileage" and did not read the label correctly. I understand the current predicament is entirely my fault and the there really is not such thing as "highway mileage" motor oil.

I have learned from my error.

Not entirely sure I understand the question. The issue is that the vehicle takes 5.7L and I have

5.0L of Pennzoil PFS Ultra Platinum
5.0L of Valvoline PFS High Mileage

The vehicle takes 5.7L of motor oil. Just wondering what approach to use but if you read the previous comment I think I have found a solution.

I don't own a deep fryer, and I would imagine the smoke point of a Premium Synthetic oil is probably too high to deep fry battered cod.

It probably won't hurt anything........... but Valvoline won't even recommend mixing oils between their different lines.

I just saw a video where a youtuber (Midwest F150 I believe) asked Valvoline about this exact thing. Valvoline stated that the additive packages are not advisable to mix.

Like I said, it "probably" won't hurt anything. I'd just go ahead and hang on to that extra bottle and use it at a later date since it won't go bad anyway.

I'm currently running Valvoline Restore and Protect and am a firm believer in the 4-5000 mile OCI in direct injected, turbo vehicles.

Ran into a similar situation on the last OC I did on my '18 2.7EB before selling it - ordered 6 qts of Mobil1 Extended Performance 5w-30 online, the 5 qt. jug was as ordered but the 1 qt bottle was mistakenly the 'high mileage' product (I bit the bullet and bought a qt. of the non-hi-mileage 5w-30). For grins I emailed the Exxon/Mobil1 folks and asked "hey any problem mixing hi-mileage with non-hi-mileage?". Surprisingly I got a reply, they "recommended" not mixing them, although they did have a lot of weasel-words about there probably wouldn't be any problem but..... In my opinion (not fact-based), manufacturers have to do a CYA when asked about mixing hi-mileage/regular oils, the lawyers probably have the last word.

Unless you're a lubrication engineer I doubt the only solid info you'll find on possible problems mixing them will be anecdotal, not quantitative.
