While replacing my incandescent front turn signal bulbs with led bulbs earlier this morning, I found a couple of oddities. First, when I was folding back the drivers side wheel well liner, a mystery nut fell out. Then, when I moved to the passenger side, I noticed there wasn't a 7mm screw on the bottom of the liner and there wasn't anything behind it for it to attach to. Does anyone happen to know where the mystery nut goes and what parts I am missing on the passenger side?

So I stopped by the dealership this morning to look at some trucks on the lot and found there should be a plastic bracket that the liner screws into. Does anyone know the part number for this piece?

I found this diagram which includes the wheel well liner but it does not show the plastic bracket that it screws to.

well, I think the dropped nut is just that. someone on assembly had fumble fingers and dropped it into the abyss. hopefully they grabbed another and finished the job. BUT..

doesnt surprise me, my truck was delivered without one of the plastic trim pieces in front of the rear tire. all the nuts were there, just no plastic part, did not appear as it was knocked off because the "nuts" werent damaged and had no sign of use.

when I asked at closing, oh sure they say we can get that, but you will have to schedule an appointment with service... Screw that. drop off a brand new truck for a trim piece some dumbass forgot to put on? I ordered one online and put it on myself. yah I paid for it. but whatever. the less I see of my dealer or their "service" lane the better. but seriously, how did that get past Quality Control ??

soooo. my advice is, figure out a way to secure the wheel well by whatever means. improvise.
as for the loose nut.. good luck on that one. looks small so I doubt its going to be a critical failure part.

Mine looks incomplete like that as well. There's literally a hanging screw that I feel should be bolted to something...lol. It has always been like this.

When I was at the dealership they had three STX's and one XLT. The STX's all had plastic liners with the screws going into nothing behind the liner. The XLT had the elusive plastic bracket which I have no problem purchasing if I could just find the damn thing!

I just wanted to follow up on this mystery in case it helps anyone else. I did some additional investigation this evening and found the plastic bracket and screw folded up into the front bumper. After a bit of contortioning and some repositioning, all is back to good now.

I found I have the same issue with the front wheel well liners not connected to anything with the plastic screw just floating in space.
I wouldn’t have noticed except when I make a sharp turn the right tire hits the liner.
anyone have a better picture of what this is supposed to look like or what it is supposed to attach to?

Did you check to see if the piece it should attach to is folded up in the bumper?
