2023 XLT, purchased used. One of my low beam bulbs burned out. The bulb is LED, but I can't tell if the truck came with LED or if they are aftermarket. I'm guessing aftermarket. I see a lot of aftermarket LED's, but have no idea what's a good brand. I'm not set on LED, should I just replace them with H11 Halogen? O'Reilly and AutoZone online says the H11 isn't compatible with my truck, don't know why that is. I would've never guessed that getting the right bulb would be so confusing.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah,
XLT “optional” listed both for H11 and LED.

I noticed that some of the LED bulbs state they aren't DOT legal for anything other than fog lights or Powersports.

Those are aftermarket. You should consider that a good thing as it can be replaced. If your XLT had factory LEDs it would cost you $$$$$.

I was thinking that would be the case since the manual says LED aren't serviceable.

They aren't. Had the passenger side quad LED fail internally on mine about a month ago. This took out the LED ballast in the process. Only the turn signal and cornering lamp worked. Since you can get the ballast fairly easily I swapped the ballast from the driver's side to it confirm the ballast had failed and the headlight burned that one out too. Took it to the dealer to get repaired with my Ford premium care ESP with LED coverage. My out of pocket was just the $100 deductible but the total cost of repair would have been $5400 for two new headlights, ballasts, diagnostics, and labor w/o warranty.

Cost of ESP plan 1800 through Granger Ford. Worth every penny.

Dang! Planning to do ESP through Granger by the end of the year - assuming ESP costs will go up next year. I'm still under the 3/36 warranty until July, so holding out a bit longer since ESP starts when you purchase.

I got mine when there was about 3 months left in the 3/36. What I didn't know is Ford Premium Care ESP coverage for new vehicles (still under factory warranty) always begins the day you first took delivery and the odometer was at zero. This is regardless of when you actually purchase the plan.

So yeah I'd wait till the day after the factory 3/36 has expired to get it if you want the most out of it.

That’s good to know thank you. About to pick up my 25 soon and was undecided on buying warranty

stick with VLED or @Diode Dynamics if possible.
those 2 companies make good stuff and are reputable.

If changing out the blown out side with new led or halogen that side will be brighter than the other side being used longer and not new.
That’s what happened to me with my led headlight on my 2014 F150 Platinum.
Just an FYI
