My '22 now has 64k miles, owned from new.

I wouldn't hesitate getting a high mileage 5.0 if the price was right. That said, if lower mileage ones re comparable-ish in price, I'd reconsider.

Not trying to dissuade you from buying the truck, but something to consider when buying a higher mileage 5.0 is that the "wet" Kevlar timing belt may need to be replaced sooner rather than later. I don't know the replacement interval but I would think 150k miles might be recommended. Maybe check with your local dealer.

I bought my 23 SCLB XLT 4x4 5.0 in Oct 2024 with 30k miles. It was a lease return for $38k. I had some minor work done under warranty “front wheel bearing.” I replaced the struts and rear shocks with Bilstien to raise the front for a little ground clearance and had Toyo open country AT-3 installed cost 2k for for tires and shocks. I have found several SCSB trucks in this price and mileage range. If your willing to travel some the price is worth your time.
The running boards I bought off the jungle web sight for $200. I am very happy with my purchase. I travel between Tahoe and Vegas regularly. I’ve put over 10k on the truck now with nothing but good times.

I have a 2022 Lariat with a 5.0. I tow a 29 foot RV and a 21 foot boat. Plenty of power and I love it. No problems with the engine at all. I highly recommend the 5.0

As mentioned above, the new Kevlar 'wet' oil pump belt might have a limited lifespan. Mostly related to the number of hours it's been subjected to heat. On Kevlar wet belts, calendar age still matters, but not as much, 15+ years is likely no problem. Ford did a good job making sure the F150's 5.0 belt is not stressed, is not subject to high loads, and does not bend around small pulleys or tensioners. So the lifespan is said to be "lifetime" by Ford. There is no specified service interval.

There have not been any failures on the 5.0. A YouTube disassembly video of a badly overheated 2.7L Ecoboost, run to failure with no oil, did show belt degradation. Well maintained 2.7's disassembled at nearly 200K miles show no degradation.

Replacement of the belt is a job that takes 2 to almost 3 days (book time 16-22 hours) to accomplish.

Some things we do know.
1) Ford-spec WSS-M2C961-A1 5W-30 is a very common oil spec, meaning it is normal modern oil.
2) Oil contamination such as combustion by products, carbon/soot and unburned fuel degrade wet belts. Frequent oil changes are important for belt life.
3) The Ford 1.0 rubber belt has thousands of warranty related failures, it is not the same in any way.
4) No failures on the 5.0 Kevlar belts, despite quite a few high mile examples.
5) Wet belt camshaft configurations are highly stressed due to loads and lower pulley size.

Time will tell.

My only issue so far is that I don't get OTA updates as a decent chunk of us '21 owners have. Not sure if I'm really missing anything though.
you will need to replace the APMI and maybe manually update... there was some good stuff in a lot of OTAs

Me and my boss both have 21's, and on both of ours the outer edges on the DRL's are burnt out. I'm seeing more and more on the road too. Mine both went out within a couple of weeks of each other here recently, and I think my bosses went out pretty close together too. I'm getting the impression that 3.5-4 years might be a pretty typical lifetime for them.

I would also drive it for as long of a test drive as he'll let you. Mine has some odd vibrations/noises/shudders that it doesn't start doing consistently until it's been on the road for a good 30-45 minutes.
