When we were out of power and water for 5 days, I had to connect our inverter to our '21 F150 and Battery generator to keep it charged up. Even with the key FOB inside the vehicle, it turns off after 30 minutes.. You have to manually turn off the settings from the main console to prevent it from turning off in 30 minutes. However the F150 will reset itself every time you turn it on to turn off after 30 minutes of the engine running. It doesn't save that setting. Probably EPA requirement like the Eco off/on mode.

If you're concerned about needing to run the A/C, then these are your two best options:

1. buy a tesla

2. leave your dogs at home
I con-cur, however I'm confused. All these people running the generator aren't starting and restarting the engine every half hour are they? What gives? I have the 2kw EB BTW...

I have the 3.5EB but not HEV. If I’m in the vehicle on a call for a while, I will see a message that pops up saying engine will turn off unless select OK. to prevent this, I have to go into the large screen’s vehicle settings and turn the setting for 30 minutes idle off.

next time I start the vehicle, it reverts back to 30 minute idle again.

OK, I follow that. I haven't used the generator yet, which might be obvious here now, but if I was running tools connected to the outlets in the back, I thought in my 3.5EB I had to have the engine idling. And if that is right then you're saying I also have to go in and disable the 30 min limit as well? Thx

I have an outlet in my bed, but the inverter inside the vehicle is only 400watts Max, and that’s if the vehicle is moving. At idle, it’s 300 watts. At idle I couldn’t even get a tool battery charger to charge its battery. It’s ridiculous. Batteries these days are much more robust and needs more power to charge properly.

when we had the power outage for 5 day, I connected a 6000 watt inverter directly to the battery under the hood and pulled 800-1000 watts with no issues.

Just a helpful tip, if you press the 0/9 and the 7/8 buttons at the same time it will lock the vehicle in any condition. When I take my dog to the park I stop at a gas station to get a jug of water and this helps so I can leave the truck on.

I also have the single 400w outlet, and my first attempt to use it last week was a total fail. I attempted to plug in a drop light while setting up a trailer hitch... I got no power at all with the truck off or with "full accessory power" on. Running the truck wasn't really an option since I was working practically face-to-face with the exhaust, but I did try it just for kicks - the light worked for about 20 seconds before cutting out (along with the amber light on the truck outlet).

Fortunately, bed power isn't something I really NEED or plan to rely on at any point, but it definitely was a disappointing first impression.

Wow... I would think a drop light wouldn't draw more than 100w max.
