I was wondering if are trucks will lock automatically when you walk away from them or do you have to push the lock buttons.

Unfortunately, you have to push the lock buttons.
Thank you sir. I kind of figured that would be the answer. My wife’s Tesla locks when you walk away and I was hoping the F150 done the same. '

My wife’s 17 Mazda does this. Not sure why the 21 Fords don’t. Especially on the higher trims. With all the other tech they have in them in all.

Could it be that if you are using your truck on a job site you can leave it unlocked and walk away so that you can send someone to get something out of the truck without giving them the key? I hate having to give my keys to someone then trying to remember at the end of the day who has them.

The Mazda allows you to leave it unlocked when you want when you walk away if you wanted that setting. The tech is there and it’s fairly simple.

it’s like the auto windows feature that also go up. How long did we have to wait to for someone to just reverse that motor? That’s something else my Mazda also has over the f150. All 4 windows are automatic not just the front two.

dont get me wrong I do love this truck though!

Would be a nice feature and miss it as I had it in my Tesla. Hopefully and over the air update but still much better than my mom's new Range Rover which doesn’t even unlock without using the FOB.
our daughter’s brand new Mazda is like the F-150. Touch handle to lock when leaving.

I would sure like to have it because with my other vehicle having it, I forget to lock the truck and having to retrain. On my other vehicle I never used the buttons on the key fob and just kept it in my pocket. So now I use keypad to lock or my app when I really forget. I have been trying to figure out why they chose not to, the running boards go up when walking away. I'm sure it would annoy some people when working around the truck, as many do, but an enable option would be good.

My Mazda has it too. So it’s confirmed the F-150s do not have it? It’s not anywhere deep in the settings? That’s surprising, I like that feature. Shame....

It's pretty stupid these trucks don't have the option of auto-lock.

I leave my key in my bags all day so it actually is pretty annoying when your hands full to fish the key out.

Fortunately you can just hit the lock button on the door on the way out and this works fine as well.
