^this. Lincoln auto fold allows you to leave the mirrors folded in when you open the door (driver door) and unfolds when you close the door but opening the other doors won’t unfold the mirrors. Ford power fold unfolds the mirrors as soon as you open the door, no matter what.

—Lincoln fold is reheat but seems like a trade off if you want to keep your puddle lights. If you don’t mind losing your puddle lights, choose the Lincoln auto fold. If you want to keep them, choose Ford auto fold.

And thanks @Livnitup for looking into this! ??

it basically folds the mirror when you lock the vehicle and unfold them when you unlock with fob
vice you hitting the fold button on the door in a nut shell

can create issue if your parked in a tight spot
i just leave mine out and hit fold button if we are in a tight parking area like hospital garage etc

think i got it right

nope i was wrong . 10 demerits

quick clarification. I believe it does this when you unlock the doors, not open them. That is why I hated the default functionality and went to Lincoln like on my '17. I didn't like that just unlocking my truck caused them to unfold. I can't explain WHYI didn't like it. I just didn't like it.

Yes in Ford auto fold, the mirrors will unfold as soon as you unlock the truck (keyless handle open or by keyfob) where Lincoln auto fold settings, it doesn’t unfold until you open the door and close it, then it unfolds. Love the Lincoln way, just don’t like the puddle lights disabled.

What was the setting for Ford Autofold?
DDM - 740-03-16 xxxx xxxX**
&
PDM - 741-03-16 xxxx xxxX**

00=Ford, 01=Lincoln, 02=manual, 03=Powerfold

—use 00 for Ford Auto Fold.

You can use the easy method instead of the asbuilt values above, works the same way. Same modules; DDM and PDM.

Why are you using forscan to auto fold mirrors? It’s literally in the navigation settings

These are for vehicles that did not come with power fold mirrors. They won’t be in settings. My work XLT didn’t have it until changed in APIM via FORScan.

I did it because I wanted Lincoln auto fold and not the normal Ford implementation.

Ford: fold on lock, unfold on unlock.
Lincoln: fold on lock, unfold only when drivers door is opened and closed.

Yeah most people haven’t haha; but it’s noticeable for me because I do go out at night (hockey games, dinner, etc) so it’s noticeable when I walk up to the truck, everything turns on except the puddle lights which stood out alot.

Just curious, has anyone checked wiring diagrams between a Lincoln that has the same DDM/PDM and the F-150 to see if maybe the Lincoln powers the lights off different pins?

My idea since I've noticed this is to get some running board lights and hook them up in a way to turn on with when you would expect the puddle lights to turn on. I'm not sure how I will do that, but that's my plan.

i've only done a preliminary search, but so far it just looks like most are just LED strips that stick to the bottom of the side of the truck. I was hoping for something with a bracket to better secure them. There is the Starkey kit, but it goes behind the running boards and doesn't light them up.

Ultimately this isn't a big deal for me personally, but now that it's not there I can see how it would be useful at night, even if it's rarely that you would use it.
