Back in November on election day I had water dripping out of the mic hole above the driver seat onto my leg in my '22 Powerboost 502A FX4. The dealership had it at a water leak shop for about a week and said the sunroof track was mounted to low and needed to be adjusted. I only drive my truck once or twice a week, some weeks not at all but I checked on it a few times and no more wet or drips from the roof. However it still smelled damp, and whenever I drive I just feel like I was sitting on a damp towel..only on the driver's side. This seems to mostly be after sitting out in a good Seattle rain.

Yesterday I pulled the drivers floor mat up and noticed water droplets under the mat, and the floor was damp to the touch. Today I pulled the mat out and folded the carpet up as best as I could...it is certainly wet under there. The carpet doesn't feel wet under the seat, just in the driver's foot well. Water must be wicking up into the carpet because the foam footrest under the carpet has water in the cutouts. After the November trip to the dealership I removed the floormat and left the truck running with full foot heat and a fan blowing for a couple of hours in generator mode to dry the carpet. I've since dried the floor with a fan once more, so I don't think this is residual water from before.

My guess for the damp feeling drivers seat is that it is just acting like a desiccant pack and absorbing the excess humidity. I have never seen water on the seat at all, so I don't think anything is dripping down to it. The only time I've noticed water above the floor was the election day dripping onto my leg.

I have a fan in there now blowing under the carpet and a couple of 500g desiccant packs to get everything as dry as I can. I've placed a few of the white dot moisture detectors there and will place some more once it has hopefully dried out completely overnight. The carpet all the way up on the back wall or on the drivers outer wall does not feel wet at all. Any ideas where this could be coming from? I'm guessing it will be weeks to months before the dealer can get it back in to look at so I would like to do as much as I can in the meantime to track it down.

* One side note: The first drive after a good rain I hear a lot of water running sounds. I don't know if this is just standing water on the roof rolling and bed rolling off, or if this is water somehow inside the frame. I've never heard running water so loud in any of my previous cars (2xJeep Grand Cherokee, 6xSubaru) but this is my first truck so maybe that is normal. I back up into my driveway which is not level so the truck is normally nose down when parked. My driveway to road forms a V so I go from nose down to nose up pulling out of my driveway which is generally when I hear it the most, or at the first stop.

Thanks

Pull the trim from the floor sill and verify if the wiring chase is full of water.
I bet it is and it where the floor is wicking it from

This video addresses removing the trim to see if water is in that chase. Ignore that it's a previous year model/generation. :)

I did remove the trim panel and there did not appear to be any standing water or any droplets in the wire chase. I am placing the moisture detecting dots all around and will have some in that wire chase to hopefully help identify where it is coming from.

Bummer. But then I guess that's a good thing to.

Next time you hear "rushing water", check to see if it sounds like it's traveling down your A-pillar?

Both the panoroof and the windshield are known for leaking down through the A-pillar and any kind of orifice in the firewall or cabin frame can allow egress of that water.

I've placed some of the moisture detector dots around under the carpet, on the firewall and behind the kick panels on both sides and in a couple parts of the wire chase. It is hard to fit down there and get the tiny stickers off my fingers or tweezers so maybe not the best locations...but we will see. I will try and pay more attention if I can hear it running down the A pillar. If I can figure out where that would be most likely to run down I'll put more moisture dots there.

All of the white dots are moisture detectors that will turn red if they get wet. One of them started turning pink overnight when the carpet was sitting back down on it because it hadn't fully dried yet. The fan has been blowing all day so hopefully that will be dry enough by the time I put things back together this evening.

The biggest sign of water was a little rust on the hood release latch, and the flat part just below that. I put a couple of moisture dots there but that could have been from the sunroof leak. I am *assuming* that the sunroof issue has been fixed or mostly fixed since I no longer have evidence of water in the ceiling above the driver.

I had standing water in my passenger footwell. The dealer found the factory urethane sealant had a gap in it. They reset the windshield with new urethane and so far so good. Time will tell, though. I had a 2019 that kept getting water in it and Ford eventually bought that one back, hoping that is not the case this time.

It was missing a grommet in the firewall. I have had no water since.

Bump on this one. Haven't had it in a while, as Spring is subsiding, but am aggravated my 2021 XLT has this as well. I've only had it since last June, and it's CPO. Pano sun-roof of course. No water down by the door frame area. After it rains a significant amount the whole inside of the windshield has often has heavy condensation condense on it. Annoying for sure, as often times it hasn't been a prolonged period of rain.

I've got a drain tube cleaner of the internet and ran it down both drain tubes of the sunroof, expecting some debris might be noticeable on one of them, but it was extremely clean after being pushed/twisted down as far as it could go on each, 3-4 feet.

I've noticed what look like dried mildew spots on the thin spot of roof fabric at the center of the roof, between the mirror/accidental avoidance stuff, and the sunglass holder console.

I've also came to find some white-colored water spots directly above where I sit, and would not be surprised that this is where some water leaked down onto the seat at times.

Anyone have anything definitive on this at all? Need an oil change soon, and will be getting them to address this as well.

Any updates on this problem? I bought a 2022 power boost and dealing with this. Water will be pouring from where the microphone is and where the visor is on drivers side leaving a puddle in the footboard. Carmax is doing their best to take care of me but haven’t been able to locate the leak yet.
