I just got a new to me 2021 Lariat.

The sync version is on 21146_PRODUCT revision 145.

Which I am thinking is super old and has not been updated at all. It doesn't seem like it wants to update OTA connected to my home wifi. It just says it is up to date.

Is there a way for me to fix this and update to the current version without going to a dealer?

Go here first so Rugedraw can see if anything shows up from the Ford side.

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/request-vin-lookup-thread.13393/

Then go here and study if you want to update without a dealer. It's not difficult, and you are missing 2022 feature adds like full screen Android Auto and Carplay and Amazon Alexa. Late last year updated the tech for lane centering with adaptive cruise. That update doesn't get sent OTA but worth it in my opinion.

Not sure where you got the truck from but check for recalls as well. If not done already there will be a couple for sure .
And not just your sync system is out of date but as alluded to above a lot of your modules in the truck will have updates as well that you will find out in the vin update request. Some great folks on here that know what they are doing

How do you know this? I figured it just hasn't been connected to Wi-Fi before.

I did buy a warranty.

There is no proof that the OTA's are done over WiFi. Ford uses cell connections to update. There are a lot of threads about this. If you have a good cell connection and a battery that is charged, about all you can do is wait for the Ford God's to send you updates. Or, like many on here, get a Mongoose, power supply/charger and do it yourself. Read the first couple of pages here, tells you what to do. @rugedraw has a Mongoose he loans out if you don't want to spend the $600.00 or so to buy one. Alot of members will help you through the process of updating your truck.

I would not be quick in replacing your APIM just yet. See what @rugedraw and maybe @Jesse-Infotainment have to say first after they lookup your truck on their systems.

21146 is past the point of trouble. APIM is fine need to update it manually in FDRS>

With exception of the priority updates, does someone here know if 6.8.0 from last December is still the last one released?

That is completely wrong.
Almost every APIM can move on even from being stuck. This version OP has is well beyond that.

6.8.0 was last major update and minor bug fixes after that.
Pop over to the OTA thread and download the spreadsheet if you are curious about the other updates. Nothing significant going OTA this year so far.

I posted in the lookup thread.

My auto stop/start is currently not working and says "due to vehicle charging" so could be a low voltage issue preventing updates.

I'd recommend getting a trickle charger and a new battery. A good, strong battery, and the ability to keep the charge up while making the necessary fdrs updates will save you a lot of frustration, and will help moving forward when you start getting OTA updates.

That usually means the battery is not charged enough and is either bad or the truck is not driven enough. The ASS not working is a sign of the low battery condition.

Many 2021 trucks had undersized batteries. They send Lariat out with H6 then changed it to H7 for following years. If you have a Powerboost your maximum size is H7. If you have everything else an H8 battery will fit. I switched to an H8 to cure all my issues.

Based on VIN lookup I highly recommend buying the Mongoose cable yourself or signing up in Rugedraw thread to borrow one of his. You easily have a full two days of updating to do.
You'll gain the features I mentioned above.

This is the Mongoose borrowing thread if you agree to the terms he has and want to get on the waiting list.

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...mming-vehicle-interface-lending-thread.13145/

You'll need an external power supply as mentioned in the FDRS thread. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have in the FDRS thread about the process. We are here to help you avoid a dealer visit. :)

I purchased a 2021 in april with sync version 20312. I kept getting a message on the app that it had gone to sleep. In july bought a h7 battery from walmart and a week later received a sync update. Rugedraw helped me on what updates i could do to catch up and went the mongoose route took me 10 hrs. and did everything up there but 1 that asked for a password, i managed to get to sync version 23159.
