The active air dam deploys at speeds above 40mph. FYI

Damaged mine in today's freak snow storm because I wasn't using 4x4.

Just replaced mine after getting the truck used and it was already damaged. Wanted to see how much of a difference it made on gas mileage. Worth it if it makes a difference imo.

I never noticed difference removing the active part. Didn't trim the fixed part yet.

If you drive mainly on the interstate at 75+ mph it is probably worth it. If you mostly drive in town or off road, it just adds weight.

I'm mainly in town stuff like that. My part of louisiana is 65 limits so 70 but not a whole lot of that. I mean unless im actin the fool but I mean mpg goes out the window at that point anyway. Lol

I am on my FOURTH replacement from Ford via warranty and now extended warranty. I am going to keep going back until either they redesign or have a permanent fix (or the warranty wears out). I posted on this several times if you want to see other photos, etc. Bad design vs Toyota version.

My active air dam was damage from a branch in the middle of the road I couldn't avoid. I just removed it and haven't noticed any difference. From what I looked up, it's supposed to provide "up to 4% better mpg on the highway". Not worth paying to replace

I removed mine because I know it would get damaged eventually and didn't want to deal with that on the side of the road/ trail.

They did come up with a permanent fix; the Ford Performance Skid plate!

No air dam = no problem.

Many have removed it and I don't think anyone has regretted it. I get 27+ MPG on highway I don't care about losing MPG when it looks better without broken air dam. 5.0 though you might care more than I do about that.

If they replace it with that one under warranty I am all in ... I really want them to feel the pain a bit.

Does anyone else's air dam rattle? I have chased a rattle that comes and goes and sounds like it's in front of me under the truck since it was new. I happened to have it on a lift today and noticed if I tap the retractable part it makes an identical rattle noise to what I have been hearing.
