I had to get Covid tested today and the wait was just short of 2½ hours. The people in the waiting room were packed like sardines. And they looked so miserable.

I simply waited in the truck in total luxury and comfort. On average the motor would start every 20-23 minutes and run for just short of 55 seconds. So I'm enjoying 68°F in a leather recliner during August heat. Just amazing.

What a great overall package for a Pickup truck!

Just hiked my dog and then stopped at the grocery store. 85 degrees outside and she stayed in the cold truck with a bowl of water while I picked up a few things.

What a truck. It tows the TT, provides all the power I need and the next day it’s a daily driver with decent gas mileage and then becomes a beast in a sheep’s clothing with a turn of a knob to sport mode. I don’t know of a vehicle that can do all of the things a Powerboost can.

Yep. I like my truck.

I've had my PB for just over a week, and this is by far my favorite feature. I think the same is true for heat. I'm in the mountain west and our mornings are already getting cold. I work early. It's the same for keeping the cab warm. Much colder weather will confirm this - maybe there's someone here who's experienced this already? From what I can tell the heater core coolant circuit has its own electric water pump and auxiliary heater.

One of the first things I did was activate the hot spot then get it added to my AT&T account so now it's all in one bill, $20 a month for the truck to be unlimited data which is great!
Can someone please explain the advantage of this to me? I’ve had hotspots on cars before but I always deactivate them because I just use the one on my phone. It’s paid for, and it’s 5G vs LTE in the truck (which doesn’t make much of a diff anyway).

On the topic of the AC, yup, I like it too. Great benefit of the hybrid.

1. Redundancy while on the move
2. Another source of unlimited data to not dry up the data limits on your phone while driving (even if "unlimited", at a certain point they will throttle your speeds on your phone)
3. Much larger antenna is possible which improve your ability to get a LTE/5G signal where your phone likely won't, even if you're on the same network
4. Lets you scale better w/ multiple users in the vehicle (phone based hotspots don't scale with additional users super well)
5. Keeps your phone from getting hot which will affect battery life (Outbound data on the phone will cause it to heat up rapidly, which is why I don't like wireless Carplay)

Etc.

I just paid the $300 fee for a year's service. Buy once, cry once.

Hello All,
Just to understand it better: This feature/capability is available because it is a hybrid powertrain, and the battery is providing the power to the air conditioning unit, backed up with engine power if needed. So, this is only available with PowerBoost engines.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Thank you.

Yup. The HEV battery powers all the electronics in the vehicle including AC. The engine just keeps the battery topped off.

I love the 12volt DC air conditioner as well. I live in Florida and use is regularly without the engine running.

I was just talking about this with my wife this morning. We live in Colorado and got measurable snow on Sept 9 last year. It won't be long before the heat is needed again!

For me, I plan to be boondocking with a trailer. I have Verizon net work through Xfinity on my phone. The ATT signal on the truck will add to the possibility of me getting any signal at all in remote areas.

Picked up my daughter at school, 95 degree out. Waiting 45 min listening to radio, nice and cool in my F150. :)...30 min in, I noticed it was getting really hot. Radio was still on but no AC... WTF. My badass 5.0 V8 coyote had turned itself off automatically. :(
Thought of this thread and cursed all you freakin bastards in your PBs. LOL.

grrrr....
