I want to make sure this is legit. Has anyone used this? It is a Mr. Coffee 5 cup Mini-brew coffee maker. If you scroll down to the product information, it says it is a 110 on voltage and 3.3 watts on the wattage, which is well below 400w. This should work great, right? I am just suspect that a coffee maker only uses 3.3 watts, but the reviews are good.

I have an older version of this in my camping kit. Sounds about right

I don't know about that specific model, but I've used a coffee maker while camping a number of times.

I would recommend putting the coffee maker in the truck bed or on a nearby table rather than in the cab near the plug (use an extension cord if you have to), since many coffee makers get pretty hot at the base, and you wouldn't want to damage your truck from all that heat.

I used mine on my tailgate during Ian, it literally saved my days
The 2kw actually ran 2 refrigerators and a couple fans on less juice than the coffee maker took, those heating elements take a lot.

This one...about the same size 5 cup says 650 watts and it only weights 0.1 of a lb... 3.3 watts of heat, you could hold it in you hand.

I should have explained myself more

1> This one (above) only weights .1 of a lb or 1.6 oz
2> 3.3 watt heater you could hold that in your hand all day long and not get burnt. Not enough to make coffee, that's for sure.
3> The 5 cup listed above is rated at 650 watts. That is more like what a coffee pot should be. Not 3.3 watts.

That has to be some sort of typo. There is absolutely no way that a heating element capable of making coffee will pull that low of wattage. Also note that there claim is rated at 110 AC voltage.

That Amazon link isn't listing the power specs properly. Neither is there a formal spec sheet on the manufacture's site, but I found this in their faq for that machine:
Ford F-150 Is This Legit? Coffee maker for the 400W Plug IMG_4674

650 is logical, but 3.3 isn't, as @Kanuck Don said.

You will need to spend a little more money, but I would get a power bank with in-built 750W (minimum) inverter, and use the truck's 400W inverter to charge the larger power bank / inverter. If the power bank can't be charged by AC (unlikely) then you can get an AC-DC converter to charge it with using its 12VDC input. Those AC-DC converters are cheap on Amazon if needed.

A 650 Watt maker will draw a lot more power at start up . A 1000 watt dc/ ac inverter would be in order

Okay, please bear with me. I don't fully understand. So, the plugs inside the truck (front and back seat) are 110 yes? What is the one plug in the bed? 110 or 120?

110 vs 120 are same thing for all intensive purposes. The details are a lot more complicated but for your purposes making coffee here, a 110 or 120 advertised coffee maker will work on your home grid power and in your F-150 AC power plugs. We use a baby bottle warmer in cab for our kiddo when we travel.

What other posters are referring to with 400 watt limit is the power rating of your inverter. An inverter takes DC current from your 12 volt underhood battery and turns it into AC power to heat up your coffee, my baby bottle, or any AC consuming item. The measurement of power between DC and AC conversion is Watts. Voltage (110 or 120) times current (amps) = Power (watts). The Power conversion is limited by the inverter output. In the case of F-150 pro power, it's either 400 watts, 2.0 kilowatts, 2.4 kilowatts, or 7.2 kilowatts. In your case, it's 400 watts max.

So your coffee maker needs to be 400 watts or less power consumption. This is pretty small amount for a coffee maker. The coffee maker you linked and Snakebitten above found, is 650 watts. Too big for your inverter of 400 watts. So most likely it will pop the breaker and shutdown your inverter before finishing your coffee. No bueno.

Look for a coffee maker rated at 400 watts or less. Might be tough to find. You can alternatively go other routes as suggested. That Makita battery unit is a good option. Knockoff batteries are cheap or universal battery adapters work too if you don't want to invest in a new battery system. More expensive options are to buy a larger inverter and wire it into your truck. But seems redundant. I would go battery route.

Another good option suggested by Snakebitten, is a portable power station. Battery plus inverter combo in a cooler like portable form. Charged off the grid or solar panels, this one provides 1200 watts of output for $500.

Let us know if you have additional questions. Hopefully this post explained it in layman's terms for you.
