Hello everyone. I just purchased my first F-150 on Saturday. Not new to trucks, just to Ford trucks. I had traded my previous truck for a mid-size SUV, but I missed having a truck and this seemed to be the best one through my months of research.

Not sure all I am going to do to it yet but will probably document it eventually. lol

Hi,
Lurch here from DFW, just ordered a '24 F-150 from Granger, nice forum, great vibe, and some really great information for all things F-150. This will be number 6 for me.

f150 soon? 3 classic Cadillacs, Miata, mustang civ
Occupation
retired!
I'm doc. I used to have a name, but started getting called "doc" in about three places at once a while back. It spread, and once my priest addressed me as "doc" at Communion, I realized that I no longer have a name! (gosh, what would happen if I wandered into Cheers???)

I definitely have a car problem, and my wife is no help in restraining me.

I have a '72 Eldorado Convertible as a project, a '93 Fleetwood waiting for a transmission, and a '97 Eldorado Touring Coup waiting for a fuel pump, swapping the alternator, some minor body flexing back to shape, and probably a strut replacement.

OK, so it's primarily a Cadillac problem . . .

But there's also an '06 Miata waiting to ship to Texas for a ford 2.5 (for crying out loud, the transmission went at 40k, the engine at 60k, and the rebuild at 70k. But ford makes a larger version of the same engine, with more hardened parts. And it's so fun to drive (although the turn signal tells you it's Ford when it fights you after a turn!).

And the '98 Mustang GT convertible waiting for the ETC to get out of the drive way so I can reinstall the replacement intake manifold (did something wrong, presumably the gasket, and it leaks and ruins the oil in just a couple of miles).

And my father's '97 F-150, 4.6, that goes back to little brother soon.

And as of today, a '99 Deville as a mini project, which will probably become an around-town car.

Did I mention I have a car problem? And that my wife's no help in controlling it?

I'm here because I'm probably going to order a new F-150. And again, she's encouraging me. She'll probably take it from me as fast as she took my father's, but . . .

Looks to be a Laramie or maybe Smoke Ranch to get what I want, and PB. I'm *not* getting black or black interior, which will save me from buying a Platinum (I live in the desert, for crying out loud. Plants that want "full sun" can't handle "Vegas sun"!). And I sure wish I could have a supercab, especially without a back seat, instead of a crewcab.

Now the question is whether to order now, or to watch for clearance near year-end, or wait to see what changes for 2015 . . .

I certainly want the PAT tailgate, and the power tailgate and step are just, so, well [hey, there's no yellow guy salivating! foul!]

In non car stuff, I'm a retired attorney and economics professor.

I'm also looking for a 50's convertible, probably ford/mercury or Cadillac (maybe Oldsmobile). 8 cylinders (yeah, I'm an 8 cylinder bigot), manual [unless Cadillac!], overdrive [might have to retrofit], and AC [probably retrofit, unless late 50s Cadillac]. And power windows, because, well, cool!.

And then I'll take it cross country touring (another reason for Ford or Cadillac!)

And if Lowes or Home Depot would stock 24' 4x4s, I could use this truck to build the carport before the next one gets here . . .
