Miles driven, idle time, how hard it is being driven. Trailer connection could be used for towing calculation but that is just speculation. Oil analysis is fine thing to do though. I suspect no matter when the truck wants to change the oil, even after a year, it is a conservative guestimate with modern oil, and can run much longer.

If the oil life monitor is intelligent, why wouldn't it be able to reset itself?

Why can't it recognize new oil?
The truck cannot perform an oil composition analysis. It merely determine life based on usage parameters as many have noted in this thread.

I don't know if blended oil is crap.
Especially with short oil change intervals.
I don't know if any of the modern oils on the shelves these days are crap.

We are fortunate to have the quality of oil we have these days. I'm not saying that I don't have my preferences, but if the only oil available on an island was plain old Motorcraft Synth-blend, I'd sleep well the night following that I poured 6 quarts of it into the Powerboost.

considering you can get a synthetic oil for four dollars more a jug, it’s just a much better choice. of course I guess this is just my opinion so you know what that’s like.

Not disagreeing that full synthetic (whatever that actually means) is often just a little bit more cost. And probably even a higher quality oil.

Was just defending Synth-blend as not being "crap".

I don't think there are any crap oil these days.

It doesn't necessarily have to perform an oil composition analysis to tell that the oil has been changed.

it doesn’t and won’t know when the oil is changed until you tell it that it’s been changed
