Well with all the talk of this option, ive decided to put my truck on code 99 and wait for the scale option along with several other options. I was hoping the scales would be a little more "add on" afterward, but seems it's not as simple, yet it can be done. Ford should really consider making it an accessory to add later if you want it with plug and play compatibility. For what these trucks are costing, it would be nice to add, and not buy a new truck to have the feature, lol.

can you get scales only on a Lariat? Or are you getting CCD as well?

So ive been using this forum and studying the scales. I have a 23 F350 Lariat on order, and scales is option for spring. Superdutys dont have CCD as a option.

Ah I missed that, I just saw Lariat.

I did a little research for a buddy of mine on here for his 22 F250. You need a VDM and 4 ride height sensors. You wire the ride height sensors to the VDM and then the VDM to the BCMC

I was just browsing this thread trying to get an idea of what is gonna happen to my scales after I level my truck.
I have the scales but no ccd or auto levelling headlights. Just a 2in level on the front end made the scales not functional. Any idea how to get them working again? Ford says remove the level after 2 dealership visits with escalated tickets.

Thats ridiculous. My dealer just recalibrated my scale feature after they installed the level kit and all was good. Took them like 15 minutes. My scales are 100% operational now after my level.

I want to say it might even be something we can do in ForScan. I could be completely wrong there, but I think all they did was just sort of reset the feature.

After some quick research, it sounds like there may be a “VDM on board scales height sensor calibration” feature in Forscan. This would probably get you up and running. If you’re not a Forscan guy, I’m sure Jesse could help you out if you asked real nicely.

In the F150 non-ccd or scales, there are only two height sensors. One front and one rear both on the drivers side. They send a analog signal to the HCM for leveling. No VDM.

CCD or Scales get 4 sensors (the sensors are different for CCD vs non-CCD) they feed into the VDM, they are calibrated in the VDM, and for leveling the HCM gets the "height" info over the CAN bus from the VDM.
hey man, I have a 22 lariat powerboost I ordered specifically to tow a travel trailer. I have the scales but no ccd or auto-level headlights. After having a 2in level installed on the front end, and changing tires from 275/60R20 to 295/6R20, the scales no longer work (tires are 0.9 in bigger than the originals). Ford cannot help, I have exhausted to escalated tickets with them, they say to remove the level. After reading this entire thread I feel like you might have the answer to how I can get my scales functional again. The screen just don't move when I apply weight to the bed. The app says scales not functional, take to dealership. My trailer is on the heavier side, so I'd really like the scales and smart hitch system to work. Any advice???

Never used forscan but good with all other techy stuff. I am willing to do whatever I need to to get them working again.

I'm so jealous. That's all I want after dishing out 70k for a new truck. Mine don't have ccd or auto levelling headlights. The first time, the tech said he was able to reset several things on one screen, but there was one setting that would not recalibrate. Not sure of the specifics.

You mind if I ask what level kit you used? Trying to figure out if your height sensors on the front were relocated via a bracket or extended to account for the height change. Otherwise, they stayed put where they were, and just the recalibration from Ford fixed your issue.

It was the Ready Lift 2” kit. It was installed by my dealer.

They forgot about my scales and I came back the next day and one of the techs reset it for me. Took 15 minutes. I a heavy bag of gear I keep in my truck along with some tools, first aid kit etc. He took all that stuff out before he reset it.

No sensors were relocated.

Here are some pics of the front suspension of my truck after the level kit was installed. Height sensors are on the far left there of that first pic and centered in the second pic.

appreciate the pics, that's pretty much how mine look, the sensors are unaffected, although they may be opened to a different position which the recalibration apparently fixes. So after talking with Jesse, he is showing a DTC voltage issue code for my VIN and it may be that that is causing them not to be able to recalibrate my particular truck. I know of two of you now that are saying they were able to recalibrate after your level with no problem, so the issue is with my particular truck.

Here are some of the options shown in Forscan. I didn’t progress past the second image.
