So I installed a new hood LED light above the front grille. I was thinking how to wire it so I grounded it and routed the power into the engine compartment fuse box. I pulled and tried a few fuses to see which will work to turn them on with ignition. I ended up tapping the fuel pump which seems to work as I want. NOW, after the install (this makes no sense to me) I plugged everything back in exactly as before. Only adding the fuse tap to the fuel pump fuse. I noticed now that my welcome Lighting does not work as I approach. And when I hit unlock on my key fob the parking lights flash with the press of the button but that's it. Before the DRLs and all welcome Lighting would turn on. Even the interior light does not turn on unless I open the door. The DRLs work fine when the ignition is on but not when I unlock now. Also before when I locked my truck and hit the button twice the lights would all turn off regardless of the delay. Now the headlights stay on even if I do that but turn off after about 20 seconds. Not sure if something was 'reset' but I didn't change any settings anywhere and only unplugged a few fuses which were put right back. I did at one point pull the 'headlamp run/start feed' fuse which sounds like it may have something to do with my issue but I have no clue. Any input would be fantastic. Thanks!

I would try going back to the way it was before you added the light to see if everything returns to normal. If it does, then you know the cause; if it doesn't, then it might be a relearning thing? You didn't mention turning on the ignition.

I have tried to install everything back as before with no luck. I did turn on the ignition a few times to check the new lights and nothing has reset. I never unhooked the battery or anything either. The ground is connected to a bolt with a few other grounds attached but I don't think that can cause an issue. I did add a 5 star tune as well today and didn't notice if the lights were normal after that and before the light install. Didn't think to look. Not sure if they put something in the tune to turn the welcome lighting off? Seems so odd it doesn't work like before even with everything back to factory.

Good Troubleshooting! Occam's razor says the simplest answer is usually the right one... and something you changed likely caused it so I'd next check the tune. Good luck getting it figured; you're already past my skill set but I'm sure the brains here will help figure it out. (y)

I appreciate the input! I will continue troubleshooting and hopefully find the answer to help others in the future. Thanks!

How certain are you that you put everything back exactly as designed? Did you take a before pic to ensure it’s all back? It’s certainly possible to accidentally have put something back just one slot or spot over

You had me question myself so I took a pic and compared and everything is where it should be. I'm starting to think it may be the tune I installed because I unplugged all the ECM harnesses and such for that and obviously flashed my truck so it sort of makes sense. I'm going to flash back to stock tomorrow and see what happens.

I also now realized that by connecting to the fuel pump my light comes on with remote start and the engine which is great. BUT if I do not remote start the light comes on when I open the door. (assuming that's when the fuel pump turns on) which is no good. I need it to only turn on when I start the truck and turn off when I shut off the truck... Any other fuses I could use for that?

You have the quad led. The Parking lights are standard 12 volt. Maybe tie into the parking light circuit then it only comes on with those

Is "approach detection" in the APIM menu? Maybe it got toggled off when things were connected? I can't recall if that is in the menu or not at the moment.

I figured it was at least worth a look, good news is you didn't screw up, bad news is that didn't resolve the issue

To be honest... it almost sounds like the truck is acting like you have a low battery. The BSM turns off all kinds of things to conserve battery. Welcome lights, interior lights and door handle unlock are just a few.

I have found that if I disconnect the HCM without disconnecting the battery, the headlamps drop ALL the way down. Disconnecting the battery, letting it sit disconnected for about 10 mins, and reconnecting has fixed that issue 2 or 3 times now. Another thing I have found that works is disconnecting the battery, pressing the start button (nothing happens but I think it allows all the residual energy to bleed off) and immediately reconnecting also has the same “reset” ability as leaving it disconnected for 10-30 mins. This has just been my experience, but the latter may not work for you.
