Should I be concerned about it reaching that high of a temperature? To me it seems kind of running hot.

Does the HV battery get cooled by the air conditioning system or the secondary water cooling loop (system with the smaller coolant tank on the driver side) ?

From my understanding the HVAC system only cools the Hybrid electrical components underhood to prevent overheating. The secondary coolant loop is just for the HV pack to keep temps in check which is usually between 95F and 110F. While 122F is unusually high, brief spikes up to that temp can occur when there are high ambient temperatures, under heavy loads, or when the vehicle is parked just after use. Mine has hit 120f a few times but it was also over 100F and I was towing at the time. If yours is regularly reaching those temps and staying there for a prolonged period then there may be an issue with the secondary cooling loop causing the high temps and may want to get it looked at.

How do you check HV battery temps?

Obdlink mx+ obdII adapter using the obdlink app with enhanced ford model year diagnostics.

Then I am using the live data screen turbopilot made a long time ago for 22 model year and it has the hv battery temp in it.

Typically it’s in the 105-110*F range. Even the hottest days it would be 120*F and that was always a bit concerning. This is all without towing. Now it seems to be creeping up.

The coolant level in the secondary tank is still at the max line.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I have no expertise in this area, but I would be concerned with high temps on lithium ion batteries.

The Powerboost has a dedicated water cooling loop for the HV battery pack. The hotter the ambient temp the lower the cooling efficiency is which leads to increased temps in the loop. To add to this the temperature reading is from the loop itself from a sensor along the frame outside the battery pack. There could also be issues with the sensor itself causing inaccurate readings. The only way to be sure is to check the coolant temp in the loop with a calibrated thermometer.
