This is disappointing to hear that it’s still an issue in the 23 and 24s. I was wondering if it was specific to the Powerboost, but we had a 5.0er chime in experiencing it as well. I went on a 1,000 mile road trip a few weeks ago and was kind of hoping to get stranded and make Ford pay to tow it back to DFW as a “ha, told you it wasn’t normal and there is a problem!”

Further update I didn’t mention- after I took possession back from the transmission shop, I took it in to Ford to get oil change and perform TSB 22-2224. They claimed there were no powertrain updates available and I was up to date. Yet I haven’t rec’d an OTA in over a year. So that’s confusing.
Update:
I had gotten so fed up with this issue that I decided I was going to get a transmission fluid change, if that did nothing, give Ford another opportunity to figure it out, then if we got nowhere I was going to get rid of it.

I got the transmission fluid changed on Monday @ the dealership ($300). I have driven about 300 miles since haven’t heard or felt the issue. We’ll see if that remains or how long until it returns. Hopefully I just had some nasty fluid and it wasn’t lubricating everything well anymore?? Here’s to hoping.

Unfortunately I’ve already done a fluid change and mine is still getting worse. At this point I’m just waiting for it to blow up.
Here’s to hoping that was the only problem for you!

Dang it.
Yea I am suspect this is a long term fix, but at least tells me it’s definitely related to the transmission in some capacity! Since no one could point anywhere since there were no codes ha.

Update for me… they believe that it’s associated to the IWE Acuators. There is a service bulletin (TSB 24-2189) that has them replacing those to see if that fixes the issue. It was suppose to be a 6 or 7 hour job. At the end of the day, service writer told me that the tech had an issue getting the suspension apart to get to the IWEs. He also told me he had to use heat to get them off…. I’m excuse me!!!…. Anyway, I’m not sure about all that because the truck barely a year old and I’m in VA…. NO RUST. He said it was because of the types of nuts they use… btw, once used, they replace with new. I’m guessing they have some sort of nylon ring or something in them. I ended up getting a loaner for the night and was told that it would be ready today sometime. I asked him if he could a signature or wear marks where they believed that was the problem and he said yes, so I was optimistic.
I sent a message just before lunch so I could make arrangements to get it picked up and I’m told that there are still issues and Ford Engineers needed to be involved. I’m not sure what all that means but it doesn’t sound good. I’m being told they will have the truck over weekend and could be ready by Tuesday. I’m crossing my fingers. What are yalls thoughts…. I’m by no means a Ford Mechanic.

So… I just got my vehicle back and after all that Ford Engineers came back and said that this is a symptom of the 10 speed transmission. I just find it very hard to believe that for a vehicle that costs this much, that is the case, especially when you are driving anywhere from 51-63/64 miles per house. That is where most of my driving is done and it’s driving me nuts.

Then there is a whole other issue of how my service writer said that they found the issue and saw the signature markings and then just to put it all back together and say that it’s normal.

I’ve been a Ford guy for a long time but spending 80k dollars on a truck and not be satisfied is a tough pill to swallow. Any input would be much appreciated.

Wow. That is incredibly frustrating. Regarding the IWE - does it go away if you put it in 4a or 4h? From my understanding, that is the telltale sign. I initially thought that was my issue, but it still occurred in 4a and 4h, so I eliminated that as a possibility. I was also under the impression starting in 23 they got rid of the IWEs all together but could definitely be wrong?

I believe mine to have been torque converter shutter. I have driven 1,600 miles since I got my transmission fluid exchanged and filter changed and the noise/feeling has not returned (literally just returned home from 800 mile round trip to and from MO this afternoon). I do not believe this is a long term fix, but kind of thought it would have returned by now at the same time. So who knows. That tells me it was definitely transmission related. I know my build has a known CDF drum issue with the transmission, just a matter of when is it going to rear its head. But yours should have the revised drum and shouldn’t be an issue for you.

How many miles do you have on it?

I experience the noise/vibration/feeling in the pedal more when it’s in 4A. I haven’t tested it in 4H as I’m not usually moving that fast. Maybe I’ll try a transmission flush before I move on from this truck. I REALLY like it but I can’t stand feeling/hearing that annoyance everyday. I’ve got 32K miles on the truck. It has not always made that noise but has gotten worse in the last 10K miles.

***Update - the truck seems to be fixed. I ended up reaching out to another dealer (should have went there first) and had a ride along with a technician and he felt what I was experiencing in the gas pedal and could hear the noise/vibration. After having the vehicle for a couple days, he thought he found the problem. He ended up having to rebuild the front differential. There were metal shavings in the diff and damage to the ring and pinion teeth… pinion bearing seemed to have thrust in it as well which shouldn’t be.

Anyway, wanted to provide an update as I hope this could help someone else. Fingers crossed, I hope it’s fixed.

Hello. I have a 2022 XLT powerboost 3.5L. I get a rumble slight groan sound at highway speeds going into an incline with slight throttle. Its the most prominent in 10th gear, moderate in 9th and very slight in 8th. I haven't heard it below 55mph. I Don't really feel a shake, or a lack of performance. It typically occurs when the truck is maintaining gear. If I hit the gas hard, and the truck downshifts or even just has heavy acceleration, it does not occur. It sounds like blowing over an empty bottle for approx. .5-1 second. It does not occur going down hill only inclines from what I can tell. The same circumstances off highway in lower gears it does not occur. I asked the dealer about TSB 22-2224 and they said they could not perform it as my truck already has the "updates". I don't even know what that means. Any advice?

Yes this is what my issue sounded like. Again, mine seems to have been resolved by a transmission fluid and filter replacement. I’ve driven about 3,400 miles since then and the sound and feeling has not returned.
I’m battling the dealership right now who says their transmission guy is 15 jobs deep it could be days before he looks at it blah blah. My response www if you have 15 transmission jobs that tells me you have transmissions issues and he just stared at me.

I just purchased a 24 Powerboost. It has less than 100 miles on it and I have the same intermittent noise. I have only driven the truck twice.
